Yes, you can return it within 90 days. Supposedly everything you've ever returned is noted on your account.

They are changed their return policy because of the way technology changes so fast, it has nothing to do with returning items or they would do that with everything. That is what the membership fee is for. All they do is send it back to the manufacturer and credit their account. Plus, they keep records of consistent return from customers who take advantage of it.
The person asked what the return policy was, thats it. They didn't need your little two cents about right and wrong. Nothing better to do?? I hate little computer nerds like you that hide behind your computer with acne all over your face or you weigh 900 pounds. Just gotta stick your beak in with your shitty opinion. Sitting in these little chat boards or whatever the heck their are letting people know how miserable you are and how crappy your life turned out.
Why don't you take your opinion to the bathrroom and wipe off the puss from your acne covered pizza face. Fricking loser.

Hey Jambronee.

They did indeed change their lifetime electronics no-questions asked policy due to it getting abused majorly.

Asshats like above exploited it and basically had new phones, laptops and TV's every couple months. Until they abolished the policy they couldn't single out anyone for using it.

Assholes like you buy who buy and return tv's on a regular basis is why warehouse clubs are changing there return policies. Sam's Club and Costco are both allowing 90-day no question asked money back on electronics, that will soon change to 30-days.

Why do you care if its 30 or 90 days if you don't think actually using the policy is acceptable in the first place?

Why not make it 3 days if making sure you like it for X amount of time is not OK?

Plasmas are not ideal for full-time gaming since there is a risk of image burn-in due to static objects like game scores/etc. They got much better in recent years and unlikely to be an issue for occasional gaming, but if the main purpose of new TV is gaming, I would consider other TV tech. Just my 2 cents.

Unless you have a crappy set this isn't true. I have a Pioneer Elite and Panasonic plasma tv's and game on both of them extensively and the worst that has ever happened is when I was done playing literally all day and turned the tv off you could see the slightest hint of a ghost image of the UI for about 15 mins till it went away. Both of my tvs are probably around 7-8 years old now as well.

I have a 3D plasma Panny and no issues with burn-in on these type of sets.

The picture is indeed superior to LCD. Expert reviewers and mags also agree.

I don't know why people here are criticizing the OP. I hate it when people abuse the liberal return policies at places like Costco but I don't see how this is abuse. Part of the reason Costco offers policies like this is get people like the OP to pull trigger if they aren't 100% sold.

I personally believe yes you can return it and by no questions means you dont have to specify anything more than,

is it broken..yes or no? "no"

If not why returning it...."It didnt meet my needs at home."

Ok thank you for shopping at costco have a good day.

What shitty stupid let me bend over for corperations world are you people living in?

Since when did it become so bad to want something you pay more than $1 for to meet the expectations of the buyer? Why should I be forced to keep a product if it doesnt do what I want how I want it? If he brings it home and they arnt happy w/it why should he be forced to keep it? Hes not doing anything illegal. Hes not milking the system, he is using the return for what its for. So get off your high horses because you are all full of so much shit its pouring out of your mouths. Not a single one of you would spend 1k+ for a tv and if you got it home and it sucked would just be like "oh well its only $1500 hur der der"

Seriously? Shut the fuck up. Costco doesn't owe shit to you if you don't like it. If you spend 1k+ on a TV with no research and it's shit that's on you. Costco is nice enough to let you return it but if they didn't well then too bad. Next time do some looking around before you blow 1 grand on the first TV you see.

UHHHHHHH

Let us clear some stuff up first:

(a) I've been looking for a TV for my house mates
(b) They don't have time to look for a TV, but are somewhat picky
(c) I noticed costco has some great prices on some Plasmas
(d) On the TV, in the TV Section, they have '90 day warranty' plastered all over
(e) I did some researched and isolated one of them down
(f) I want to buy it.
(g) But I wanted to make sure that the others would be fine with it. They will definitely give it heavy use over the first week or so
(h) If they do'nt mind it, I'll keep the TV. If they have a problem with it (mainly because it doesn't have the GREATEST filters) then I'd return it
(i) I'd sit and wait for potentially something with a better price/perf ratio as well as absolute price.

When they give me 90 days to really feel it out, why is it bad that I want to make sure that the people who will use it the most feel that it is acceptable? Let them use it for the tasks they generally do (one plays a LOT of a specific PS3 games, and I'm sure that the test of whether enough the filters are good enough will come out)?

So the consensus is store credit, or full refund?
Then tell the douchbag "housemates" to go to Costco with you and pick out a damn TV. There are plenty of information on the internet that you can find in less than 5 minutes to allow you to make an informative decision on TV to buy that will fit your need. That will considerable less time and effort than you buy the TV, use it for a while, I mean your "housemates", and return it. Pretty douchy thing to do.

Quit abusing the system.

They care deeply but they don't care enough to do their own research? Eff that!

This is what I've been thinking the whole time.

You're buying a TV, for housemates who are picky but don't want to take the time to do the research? WTF? What the heck are you getting out of this?

I am not at all a fan of returning merchandise unless I absolutely have to. Generally speaking, I suppose what you are intending to do isn't terrible as, with TVs, it is often difficult to get a real idea of how that TV is going to do with your intended use. Especially when their staff connects them with RCA cables instead of a digital signal (though I don't think Costco is as bad about that as some other places).

That being said, if it's for games, I agree with another guy that suggested avoiding plasma. They may be better now, but I recall playing Madden on my wife's plasma for a few hours, and then being freaked out because the score ticker had burned into the screen. Course it went away after a few hours, but the point remains, you don't want to see that shit on a $500+ appliance. With my LCDs, I never even think about it.

if your housemates don't have time to shop for a tv, they don't have time to be playing video games. tell them to go with you and scope out the tv, or tell them to go pound sand.

From what I understand this is not really an issue on newer plasmas.

By newer plasmas he means anything within the last 3-4 years... My 2009 plasma had anti-burn in technology. Sure if you left something on the screen there will be image retention but it eventually goes away (not permanent).

i agree, they fixed this "burn" issue years ago with the plasmas, as a matter of fact like others have stated ....some plasmas actually have the best coloring over LED/LCD in the same price range...esp on the black level/coloring

I know PCs and consumer electronics were the first things they cracked down on when they got rid of the old return policy. Look up the exact details for those items and not the general policy.

fyi it is no big deal, I use to do this with their cell phones all the time, when it was lifetime return. I would use the phone for a year, return and get a new one. I did this for years before they stop allowing it.

people who did that shit are the reason they stopped it...dumbfuck

See this is a douchebag move...and I'm NOT doing this.

I'm not trying to figure out if I need a TV...I want to see if a particular one is 'good enough'

so take your friends to the store and let them look at it. this is a shitty way of doing things.

Technically it's not my stuff, but the business's stuff that employee use and breaks because it's not theirs. The stuff I buy for my own house rarely if ever breaks.

I buy everything from Costco, so it's no surprise when high usage = stuff breaking all the time.

i don't think you're supposed to return stuff that breaks because you treat it like shit.
