Is Crucial Memory Crap??

I recently bought some crucial memory, in particular -- 512MB SDRAM, PC133 ? CL=3 ? Unbuffered ? Non-parity ? 7.5ns ? 3.3V ? 64Meg x 64 -- I have an Abit KT7A mobo. Ever since I installed this dimm my computer has been crashing every hour or so. I took it out and no more problems. Anyone else have bad luck with crucial cause I have heard that they are pretty good. Anyone else have this dimm? Do I just return it or try a new dimm? Le me know what yall think.

I don't know what the heck you are talking about. Crucial roxxorz. I have that same mobo and 256 mb of PC133 memory and it runs fine.

Umm.....I think its the motherboard...because my DFI board becomes unstable when my crucial stick is mixed with my mushkins.....but on my MSI board..it runs fine...although slower than its supposed to run at...

Crucial, or Micron, is pretty will top of the line, 2nd to kingston, its yur mobo...(abit sucks, asus, msi, ecs are my favs)

In responce to your first question, I wouldnt be too concerned. If you have crucial, you should be set. Check this thread.

However, if GT578 is right and its the motherboard your pretty much out of luck, unless you can get a bios update that will fix it. When the crucial memory was in your system was there any other memory in there with it?

Crucial/Micron is universally agreed upon as one of the top-of-the-line memory manufacturers. I honestly would be more inclined to think it is something else. If you take another stick of memory and stick it in and your computer works fine, then I would say you have gotten a defective stick, but that doesn't mean Crucial is crap.

I have 2 other 128MB sticks of generic ram. I have tried different configurations with them, and basically anytime that the crucial stick is in, the computer will crash, even when it is the only stick on the mobo. Could it be a faulty stick of RAM maybe?

Maybe it's b/c the Crucial memory doesn't like to be around INFERIOR components Honestly though, there should be NOTHING wrong with that Crucial stick. They are the BEST

Crucial kicks some @$$.... only you made a slight error. KT133 chipsets do NOT like CL3, atleast thats what some ASUS guy told me. Anywho... try CL2 and i bet your problems will be solved. You can use 100MHz and CL2... that should do it or if you have an overclocking stick (a lot of Crucial's sticks can go higher) you can try setting CL2 manually.

This should cure all pains & troubles.
