Is Crucial PC133 memory as good as Mushkin Rev 2 PC 133

Both Crucial PC133 and Mushkin High Performance 133 say that they are -7 and run at 222.
Since Crucial is substantially cheaper, I would prefer to get the Crucial.
I would like to run my 600e at 6 x 133 (800)or maybe a little higher. Would both the above run higher than 133 if needed ?

There is no difference between Mushkin PC133 Revision 2 and 1.5 except a big difference in price. If you're looking to buy Mushkin, buy 1.5. The Rev 2 is only able to post at 1 higher setting of clock speed, but NOT able to run in windows. I personnaly have used both, and have been more successful with the Rev 1.5. I bought my Rev 1.5 for $127 shipped directly from Mushkin about 5 months ago. Now that it has become so popular, it costs significantly more. If you care to know, there is a group of people of about 4 that are looking for a fifth person for a group buy of mushkin 1.5. I think a stick of 128 will come out to around 135 bucks. I say you jump on that as soon as you can if you want ram that can post at 140mhz+ at Cas222.

Crucial PC133 is excellent as well. But it may not be as stable as mushkin at extremely high clock speed. What kind of memory clock are you looking to hit at Cas 222?

Good luck.

memory clock is 66mhz, 100mhz, or 133mhz (those are the standards). You are looking for PC133 ram so that is optimized to run at 133mhz. If you want your memory clock to exceed 133+mhz, then you must buy the best. I don't know what "8T" is.

I dont know about Mushkin, other than their prices. I do know Crucial from first hand experience, and i love it. Never had any stability problems and according to Micron they test their PC133 sticks for proper functioning at 143Mhz 2-2-2. Above 143, you will need to drop to CL3 for Micron. Personally, id never buy Mushkin as their prices are so high, and nobody can garantee your CPU will o/c so high you will actually need it. Unless you buy a pre-o/c CPU of course.

Hi,
I have 2 sticks of mushkin 1.5 and 2 sticks of mushkin 2.0, I'd get the 1.5 if you have an athlon. I just got the 2.0 for the heck of it, my athlon can't overclock FSB worth jack, so they are pretty pointless, could of made do with generic CAS2 ram. Oh well, can't return them.

Crucial makes several varieties of PC133..so a generic statement that it is as good as Mosel 1.5 or 2.0 cant be made. I have had a couple of the Crucial varieties..ECC..non ECC..CAS3 ...CAS2. Its good ram but I have the Mosel as well and prefer it. It depends also on what FSB you intend to use, whether you intend on running CAS2 at high freq for example and your future needs.

I went with Crucial. After reading everything I could get my hands on I didn't think there was anything that made Mushkin worth the extra money. Don't they just rebadge memory anyway?

My Crucial has run stable at 160 MHz cas2, it's the 7ns 222 variety, so it does depend on which Crucial stick you're talking about. Based on my experience I can't see how Mushkin justifies the higher pricetag.

Yep, you pay a premium for the Mushkin name for sure, as well as a guarantee to run at high FSB with the Mosel..but you can get the same ram without the Mushkin name and guarantee for substantially less.

I haven't used any Cruical in a long time (some 30/72pin SIMMs). For DIMMS I have only used 1 piece of PC100 Toshiba and everything else Mushkin, so I'm kinda biased, but here's a tech support story for you:

I ordered 6 pieces of mushkin budget PC100 for systems at work. One piece turned out to be bad. On a Friday afternoon at around 5:00pm I sent them an E-Mail saying I think one of my pieces was bad and what should I do to begin the RMA process. The only contact information I had given them was my E-mail address and name.

At 11:00pm on the same Friday I got an E-Mail back saying I should call this person at Mushkin (I forget her name) on Monday and we could work out the details.

On the following Monday I got an E-Mail before even picking up the phone to call Mushkin, the E-mail was from the person I was supposed to call. She had already put in the mail a replacement piece via FedEx next day (using only my E-mail address and name to get my mailing address).

On Tuesday I received the replacement piece and included in the package was a well done instruction sheet with important parts high lighted in yellow on how to properly send the faulty piece back with a Fedex label already filled out for the return. I followed the instructions and dropped it in the mail.

The best customer support bar none of any computing experience I've ever had, for that reason I'll continue to buy Mushkin until they do me wrong.
