Is flash hard to learn?

Is Flash hard to learn? I know a few basics: shapes etc

What is actionscripting? Does it allow you to program how your components behave? Does it sux? Is it relevant in the design industry? Thx

it seems sorta hard to me, I've been trying to learn it too, but just have not been motivated.. do we have any self-taught flash experts here?? or coldfusion?? I wanna learn flash too.. I've been through the tutorials provided w/ the actual software, but no further than that....

It's not neccisarly hard to learn, it just take a lot of practice, and going throught a lot of tutorials. Actionscripting is kind of like flashes version of programming. If you understand programming, then actionscripting is pretty easy. Motivation is the key i guess

Flash isn't very hard to learn...

except for the actionscripting
unless you know some programming....

I've been doing flash programs for awhile and most of the stuff i do isn't 'graphical' per se... we do mostly programming aspects since Flash is portable and easy with the animation. Its more of a handicapped java now that i think about it. Its very easy to create objects/graphics and you can use the actionscripts to control the motion/color/etc of the objects...

Try going to flashkit.com and other places for tutorials...
but you should know actionscripting because it gets important when doing highly technical stuff...

actionscripting = almost like java scripting except a bit more powerful (?) Language is like C/C++/Java

I 've been through the tutorial too, but I kinda forget the steps, cos it does not really explains the purpose of the step.

There's a nice site which I found out years ago while learning photoshop. They do have some nice basic tutorials on special effects with flash.

I was wondering whether nice flash sites like phong.com use actionscripting to do all the nice tricks?

another good site i think is echoecho ... they go through shape changing, color changing, and some other stuff...
