Is having a smart spouse important, or is educated "good enough"?

Well.... an educated idiot may suffice over an intelligent person. I mean you don't need to be particularly smart to hold a good conversation if you're educated and it's not like most people are planning on having their wife do some serious troubleshooting so I'd think that an educated average or possibly even moron would suffice for most people who are "looking for an intelligent spouse".

While I find looks to be somewhat important, I wouldn't want to date a beauty queen with the intelligence of a 5-year-old. A woman that can hold an intelligent conversation and can think for herself is the kind of girl I want to date.

The worst form of femanon (is that even a word?) are the ones who think they are smart but are not. Talk about a nightmare. You will spend your whole relationship arguing because she is wrong but convinced she is not. When you finally prove her wrong you are now the bad guy. DO NOT get involved with this type. Unfortunately there are a lot more of this type than the truly intelligent ones.

If you go by those standards, you'll never have a girlfriend. ALL women are like that to some degree.

"educated" seems like a weird term to use.

I can't imagine being with someone who's dumb, but average is fine with me as long as he or she has a healthy intellectual curiosity about knowing what's going on in the world and experiencing new things.

Truly dumb is a turn-off. But if she's of at least average intelligence, that'll work. All that's required is being able to think beyond nail polish.

Brains please. I know someone who has a masters, but is ditzy at the age of 26. She was mildly appealing right up until I figured out that she was an idiot outside of anything that required book-smarts. Her reason for getting the masters was to stay in her comfort zone (i.e. stay one more year in school so don't have to get a job), so that says something.

Intelligence? Or education? I think you've confused intelligence with education. A 5 year old is going to have the same IQ as when they're 30, assuming they don't damage their brain.

After 2 marriages, and sneaking up on sleeping with 100 women...

1) At the very least you need a woman with common sense, if they don't have common sense, you'll spend the rest of your life fixing shit, like your bank account, the car, etc, you get my drift.

2) Be damn sure you like how they look, because very few women look better as they age.

3) Temperament, one of the few bits of advice my father gave me about women was to get them pissed off and see how they react. There are some damn mean women out there, better to find out before you have to pay alimony & child support.
