when I was a kid we would have competitions with my friends to see who could swim the longest under water. our pool was about 100 ft long and I got to the point of doing 1 "lap (back and forth). not sure how long that took though, I know I would be near passing out when I did it

Most pools are built 25 yards long or 25 meters long... roughly 75 feet. (or 82 feet)
Pretty good to swim the 50 yards or meters underwater. But, did you have a diving start?
I don't know if I'm strange but I could hold my breath for 3minutes 11sec before completely giving up and when I say holding there's no exhaling or inhaling . I don't freedive, neither am I an athlete. Is holding your breath for a minute and thirty seconds considered long?
thats probably the record. at least until david blaine finds out.i've been holding my breath since OP made this post
