..... ....

To have a discussion.

Is it possible to have a discussion while remaining neutral?

Do not blame me because people jump to conclusions.

I am neutral on the issue. Gay rights and gay marriage does not affect me one way or the other.

However, facts speak for themselves.

Gay men are 17 times more likely to develop anal cancer than straight men. If that was any other form of infection, the CDC and the government would freak out.

But because the infection and cancer is directly related to a lifestyle, and a choice (to have unprotected sex), the CDC and government is hands off.

If some goat farmer was selling raw milk, and people drinking it were 17 times more likely to get sick than drinking pasteurized milk, the government would shut that farmer down.

Why does one lifestyle and choice (unprotected gay sex) get a free pass, but other lifestyles do not? I am not hurting you by drinking raw milk (which I do not do), but shouldn't I have the right to do it?

No need to search, I will make it easy for you. Seeing two gay men holding hands and/or kissing makes be want to throw up.

But that does not mean I want their rights taken away.

Congrats, you get hypocrit of the year award! Wooo!! Your prize is a signed pair of manly cowboy boots, signed by no other than your homophobe governor Rick Perry!

Because you disagree or do not like something, does not mean you want certain civil rights taken away.

Gay marriage and equal rights for gays does not affect me. But that does not mean I have to approve of their lifestyle.

If you want onions on your cheeseburger, get onions, I do not care. I do not like onions on my cheeseburger.

But that does not mean I am going to petition the restaurant to stop serving onions.

Just as you have a right to approve of a lifestyle, I have a right to disapprove.

The key issue is not to infringe on each other rights. Get married to your boyfriend, live happily ever after, I do not care.

20+ students develop measles, and the CDC freaks out.

Millions of people die from HIV, and the CDC sits on its ass.

no, there's been no government money funding HIV research nor promotion of how to stop the spread of the disease. none whatsoever.

That is not what I said. There is tons of money going into aids research.

Tell me something, what happens when a TB patient spreads the disease and refuses to follow doctors orders? That person is locked up to protect the public.

Why aren't people with HIV treated like people with TB? someone with HIV infects a few people, does that HIV person go to jail or to a special hospital?

No they do not. Because it is a lifestyle choice.

If I am wrong, tell me so.

So, then what exactly is the point of this thread?

Bashing the president for making a statement about a humanitarian issue?

How many heroin addicts go to jail for infecting people with HIV?

For that matter, how many HIV people are put in prison to protect the public?

If this was TB the health departments would be all over it.

Aren't we getting a little off topic?

Because AIDS isn't nearly as easy to transmit.

Besides, regardless of the timing of his message, it's still valid.

Lets see, make a statement on some third world nations gay rights stance, but signs the NDAA which allows for US citizens to be detained under military law with no due process.

Tells me obama is more interested in Africa than protecting civil rights here at home.

It does affect you though. Because if poor TH has to see the poo packing gays holding hands in public, he's going to barf up last night's dinner.

If you found an awesome neighborhood that you'd love to live in, but your neighbor was gay, would you move in?

If you had a young son who attended school and met a new best friend, but his father was gay and/or had two fathers? Would you let your child hang out with that child and his family?

Seeing your responses so far about this topic, I'd gather no. but according to you, you have no problem with them. So then you should say yes... But... You'd say no because they make you barf... But you'd say yes because you don't have a problem.... *buzzing noises* DOES NOT COMPUTER DOES NOT COMPUTE *explosion*

^shit you just broke my brain.

Yes. I have no issue there.

When I was in high school there was a guy I went to school with, he lived 2 houses down on my street and his older brother was gay. I did not care that the older brother was gay.

The older brother was also HIV positive.

When Allen died of AIDS complications, my wife and I went to his funeral.

You should probably bone up on exactly how diseases are spread among people. The measles virus is highly contagious. Measles is spread through droplet transmission from the nose, throat, and mouth of someone who is infected with the virus.

TB is primarily an airborne disease. The bacteria are spread from person to person in tiny microscopic droplets when a TB sufferer coughs, sneezes, speaks, sings, etc.

HIV can be transmitted from one person to another by not using a condom when having sex with a person who has HIV or when blood or certain body fluids (semen, vaginal secretions, or breast milk) from an infected person enter the body of a non-infected person.

If someone wants to protect themselves from getting HIV they should either use a condom when engaging in anal sex or avoid breast milk and vaginal sex with an infected person.

Since you claim you're not gay then off the top of my head I'd say you and every other paranoid heterosexual are pretty safe from contracting HIV. The same cannot be said for measles, TB and a lot of other highly communicable diseases whose transmission method does not involve (most of the time) having sex or drinking breast milk.

Lets see, make a statement on some third world nations gay rights stance, but signs the NDAA which allows for US citizens to be detained under military law with no due process.

Tells me Obama is more interested in Africa than protecting civil rights here at home.

I'm sure that is what it tells you but that doesn't mean it's accurate.

You do understand that herion use alone isn't the cause for HIV transmission though intravenous drug use right? This is why I 100% support needle exchange programs, if people don't share needles then HIV will never spread through drug use.

Okay I'm starting to get a better picture here. So you're totally good with the gays, just as long as they don't kiss, hold hands or overall do anything remotely gay near you.

Hell, they can get married, have a family, or be president right? You'd invite a couple over for dinner with you and the wife, have a nice evening with some drinks, etc?

That sounds like somebody who's pro gay.

I will just find a trash can and throw up.

Yes, my wife and I have invited a gay man over to my house for drinks and watch movies.

I also have 2 gay people on my facebook friends list - one male and one female. Hell, I even like the post about their boyfriends and girlfriends.

The lesbian has a cute girlfriend. She is on the skinny side for my taste.

Show me a politician who doesn't occasionally hold seemingly opposing views...

This is an awfully dumb reason to bitch about Obama. Especially when there are plenty of valid ones.

Holy crap, did you just say there are valid reasons to complain about obama? According to the liberals here, obama has been a wonderful president who has not done a single thing wrong.

I know its been a cold winter, but surely hell has not frozen over?

Okey dokey. I think it's pretty cool how you are simultaneous okay and not okay with their life style. No need to justify it though, I believe you...

I get the feeling that TH was denied a three-way during the movie night, on the grounds of the gay guy wasn't attracted to him
