Is iLife 09 better than 08?

I bought a new macbook recently so my $10 ilife 09 upgrade is coming in the mail. Should I just skip 08 and skip 09? Is it a worthy upgrade?

It all depends on what you do. On your old mac (the one in your sig I assume) did you use iLife much, specifically iPhoto and iMovie?

If yes, then I think it is worth the upgrade, the improvements to both those programs alone is worth the price tag I think, especially if the price tag is $10.

All I can say is that iMovie '08 sucks donkey testicles. Just skip '08 and go straight to '09.

Hi Eug, long time no see. So, what's wrong with iMovie 08? I never used it and am debating on whether or not to upgrade to iLife 09.

I like iMovieHD '06, and iMovie '09. I really don't care for iMovie '08. The 09 version is much different, but just that... DIFFERENT.. I think once you get used to it, you MAY end up preferring iMovie 09. Just my $0.02.

iMovie '08 was a complete overhaul... which removed much of the basic functionality of iMovie '06. iMovie was so bad that without prompting from customers, Apple offered iMovie '06 as a free download for anyone who bought iLife '08.

The enhancements in iPhoto, iWeb and GarageBand are great. But iMovie '08 is an utter bafflement.

I can't remember any software company pulling a stunt like this before: throwing away a fully developed, mature, popular program and substituting a bare-bones, differently focused program under the same name.

I can't help thinking that Apple would have done better to call a spade a spade, and give the new program a different name. Call it FlyMovie, or ByeMovie, or WhyMovie.
