Is it a bad time to buy an iPod?

They're already out, I have the 2nd gen nano and have been thoroughly impressed with it. It's durable like my previous ipod mini, nice bright screen, and better sound quality. The battery life is also MUCH improved.

The refurbished 5G's are going for a pretty nice price atm, if you are interested.

pretty interesting but they say its still on the drawing board. i can get a new 5.5 gen for like 240. doesn't seem realistic that it'd be out so soon.

It's always a bad time to buy any ipod. Rule of thumb, just buy one the second it's announced, and don't look at any apple press release or special event for the year to come, until you're ready to spend for another ipod.

The same goes for macbooks and macs

My hunch is the video ipod and the ipod cell phone will be announced at the MacWorld Expo in Jan. MacWorld is historically the time when they announce major new consumer products. Its its not then its not happening until June.

i'd just grab one of those ultra cheap 5th gen refurb 30 gig from apple. good value.

I have one of those also. A 4GB black one and it came with a nice little sleeve to keep it clean and scratch free. I've had it for almost a year now and it still looks fantastic.

the week after I bought my 1st gen Nano, they announced the video iPod...which I would have easily gotten had I not bought the Nano...

i remeber when i wanted to buy my mini. i though about it and just as i was about to bite the bullet and buy it (1G) the new ones were introduced. i immediatly baught it and it's still going strong. but in this case, either grab a refurb 30GB one or wait till they anounce the new ones.

how can i tell if the damn ipod i just bought is 5.5 gen or 5th gen? and thanks alot for your opinions guys. i went with a new one, but i can return it if it ever messes up so its not such a big deal. it was $240. the lady also told me if a new one came out i could return this one and get the new one lol.

If the screen seems really bright to you and the iPod has cool games, likely it's a 5.5G.

Have the stuff on my iPod. Works great. Its a little tricky to put it on, but afterwards its pretty well scratch proof. I carry it around in my pocket and set it down on any surface bare, with no worries.

I'm going to get it for my new Macbook Pro too.
