The sad thing is, if you're an honest person it's VERY difficult.

If you're a lowlife trash poverty 'abuser' it's very easy. Almost all ghetto neighborhoods has someone who knows the system... Promise them a couple $k when you get that fat check and they'll send you to the right doctor with the right words to get that obamacheck.

Our current POTUS has really led the charge of making it easier. It's part of how our unemployment #'s are being gamed. If you go on full time disability you're no longer unemployed..

Most of the disability abusers claim they have degenerative disc disease. Not only do you get that fat $3000 / month, but you are also prescribed $2-$3k / month street value of pain meds. It's nearly impossible to truly diagnose one way or the other... If you know when to yelp when the doctor pushes on your back then bingo - instant obamacheck.

Pretty easy to make $70k+ per year, drive a late model chrysler, all on the taxpayer's dime.

Can you offer anything to back up any of the statements you've made?

It's based on growing up inside the system and seeing how it works. As a kid I firsthand saw how the welfare queen of the hoods function.

And it's common knowledge that it's far easier to get fed disability now than ever.

Really everything I'm talking about is common knowledge.

If it's common knowledge, than there would be common proof.

Please provide it.

Back when I worked for a private investigation company it was shocking how many people were faking injuries for the disability check.

Hell the very first case I saw some dude was collecting a paycheck for a hurt left foot and was recorded bowling at the bowling alley

Walmart is the best place to see this. People roll up in they late model chrysler, park in the handicapped space, then saunter inside to spend that EBT card on steak and cheetos.

It's disgusting. These people should be forced to work from home. Have a welfare/disability call center or something.

That Price is Right lady was scamming worker's comp, not social security disability. Worker's Comp has nothing to do with either SSDI, SSI, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid....any of that. Worker's Comp is generally run by the state.

SSDI sends you to a doc of their choosing, most likely determined/scheduled by software. There's really not a good way to game it.

Not only do you get that fat $3000 / month
Except your SSDI reimbursement, like regular social security, is determined by your credits of contributing to the system. Further, if you're getting Worker's Comp for an injury, SSDI/Medicare won't cover that injury, and will reduce their reimbursement due to your your Worker's Comp reimbursement if the combined reach a certain threshold.

Yes, people do scam SSDI, but they're more likely scamming SSI, Worker's Comp, Medicaid, Welfare, etc... There seems to be a lot of confusion and people attributing the deeds of scumbags to the wrong programs.

Perhaps OP needs to clarify exactly what program he means when he says the guy is trying to get "disability". It's a very generic term that people apparently lump all income and healthcare aid programs into.

Literally half the videos I reviewed were recorded in a Walmart

You expect an encyclopedia of being ghetto trash, check chapter 3 on abusing the welfare system?

Sure. Why not. The way you talk about this, stuff like this should exist right? Some sort of compendium of statistics on this issue.

Because otherwise, its just a few dudes claiming all these abuses without any sort of proof whatsoever at all.

LOL a few dudes.

Anyone who has been around these situations are pretty vocal that this is exactly how they do it.

The system is heavily abused. Sure, some small minority need it. But at what cost?

Bottom line is our Dear Leader gets votes and support from these low life abusers. The corrupt system benefits him and his party. So crow on about how it's a few dudes all you want, meanwhile your tax dollars (if you work yet?) are funding the lifestyle of these crooks.

Almost everyone I know who has applied for SSDI was denied at least once and had to get a lawyer before they finally were approved.

Me...I filed and was approved about 6 months later...first time...no lawyer. Got a nice check for 18 months of back pay...

Those of you who "know" me know I've been fighting back and knee problems for a long time.
Good medical record documentation, including doctor recommendations that I am disabled and unable to work, properly done application packet...and of course, I had to pass a medical examination...with their doctor.

But you can type on forums and post, you could not find a desk job of any sort?

So provide evidence of any of your claims, anything that isn't simply hearsay. News reports or statistics that show the mass abuse you claim.

Any claims at all. I'm particulalry interested in the specifics on how Obama made it easier to claim SSDI that is unique to him and not the system.

Cheaper than Civil War. The topdogs learned from history, throw the folks a bone or two and keep them entertained on the tube with a bag of Cheetos and no worries.

No that's how you can tell most people here don't know shit about SSDI, just what they hear on Fox and other right wing nutter sites. They are the same people that swear they see people driving new Cadillac's at the welfare office and using food stamps all the time while talking on their iPhone6.

Here's the real numbers...

"Most SSDI recipients receive between $300 and $2,200. The average SSDI payment in 2014 is $1,148. The maximum disability benefit in 2014 is $2,642."

No. I'm saying SSDI is just like social security. If your earning/credits throughout your working life allow for it, then you can earn up to the social security maximum (which is apparently $2642). SpatiallyAware's $3K figure has more to do with Worker's Comp.

The odd truth may be that both conditions exist.

This is likely and, as detailed in the report, it may be very regional and more prevalent in depressed area. If OP's friend wants an easy way in, then he may need to move.

wow.. SSI max is only $700/month
http://www.ssa.gov/oact/cola/SSI.html

if ssdi $ is based on your work credits, then how do these poor in the projects abuse it/max out if they never worked/worked minimum wage?

No one's getting rich scamming SSDI. Some people won't have the work credits to qualify at all, or they have to get SSI as well to barely have enough to eat.

When you hear about people getting busted jet skiing while earning $3K+ per month for having a bad back, it's usually always a Worker's Comp or some insurance scam.

IF you are under (i think 25) and do not have work credits it then go off your parents.

the abuse stories are more people having SSDI and working at the same time and selling meds etc.

they aren't bringing in 3k a month off SSDI (though if you have kids you do get more). you aren't getting rich on it. the amount is pretty damn basic.

Since she's mostly bedridden, my wife watches a lot of TV to pass the time.
It makes her insane that half the people on Judge Judy are on "disability" for ridiculous reasons while she has half a dozen well documented medical problems that make it impossible for her to sit or stand for more than 20 minutes without severe pain.

So yeah, based on seeing things like that, I can see how the general public would get the impression that it's easy to get disability.

From our personal battle with the SSA, I would say it's far from easy. At least for SSDI.
Between specialist co-pays and prescription co-pays, we are spending at least $300 per month. And that doesn't include the thousands in medical bills we still have from her hospitalizations and surgeries.

And what's more is shows like that, and even threads like this, prove the confusion the misuse of the term "disability" causes.
