You don't have to believe me like I said go to the grocery store on the first of the month. You can see it for yourself. When you see the first cart full of junk food(won't take long) jump behind them in line. Here its be the ohio direction card they use. Then go watch the parking lot. Sure a lot of em come in on the bus or drive beaters but you'll see.

Unfortunitly I do contract work for rental property owners. So I get to see our tax dollars at work day in day out. Generally the works a fat bitch lifting a ho-ho.

Have you never been around poor people? There not poor there lazy. Our government just helps reenforce it.

Of course this isn't everybody but it sure feels like it when you work in the hood. My employee is poor by most standards. He'll tell you all about the losers in his neighborhood. He hates it. He goes to work every day to feed 2 kids by himself. Then goes home to watch the people that don't leave there house all day. Then he gets to see them carry in more grocerys on the first then he can ever get.

Your ignorance is astounding.

What you've described there is a simple case of people stocking up on food once a month, yet in your head you've created this monstrous image that poor people are living the life of Riley at your expense and that leads you to conclude that getting disability pay is easy.

Anyone who's that jealous and bitter at the thought of poor people going on wild spending sprees of oven chips and junk food a whopping twelve times a year has something wrong with them.

You hit the nail on the head here.

Veliko and nikolae likely have no idea how these situations work. Everything they know about welfare/disability fraud came from their liberal colleges while earning social media / arts degrees.

To them, the very fact that someone is on welfare/disability is the working man's fault.

the ss disability trust fund will run out of $ next year

either taxes will have to be raised, or everyone on ss disability will face a 25% cut

given how dysfunctional congress is, I see a 25% cut coming

When you have nothing, simply invent it out of thin air.

I actually have an Engineering degree, which is why evidence is important to me.

You have provided none.

Go get a job in apartment maintenance.
Been there, done that, in shit poor areas, it's not as rampant as you describe.

go to the grocery store on the first of the month in a not so nice area.
...I made the mistake of going to the grocery store on the first of the month a while ago.

That's cool, except SSDI checks arrive the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Wednesday of the month depending on your birth date. You're talking about EBT...which means you're talking about welfare or other aid programs...NOT disability, which is what this thread is about.

I said yeah especially with all these losers on the first of the month. Pussy scammer put his eyes to floor and didn't say another word.
Pretty sure we can file that under "things that didn't happen".

You know who else often gets paid the first of the month? Normal working people. Know who else might like to grocery shop after they've been paid? Normal working people. Know who else might like to use their debit card at the grocery store? Normal working people. Jesus Christ.

I know someone that was declared 100% disabled by the military but it took forever for SSI to agree he qualified for anything. He needed a lawyer and it took nearly 5 years.

Its not just the junk food its a lifestyle on the tax payer dime. They get free or subsidized housing, free junk food, free cell phones and cash assistance just to sit around and do nothing. I've worked in the same places for 5 years the same losers are still sitting there not trying to get out of there situation. Why should they everything is taken care of for them. Some how they see that as a way of life. Not me I'd blow my brains out before I sat in the house watching the same re-runs everyday of my life. So no I'm not jealous just mad about where my tax money goes. I don't give a shit how they eat if I don't have to pay for it.

I haven't said anything about the disabilty pay in this thread. I just responded to someone saying these losers don't exsist because someone else didn't provide any proof. It is just another scam these people can use though.

You must not have been paying attention then or the owner didn't tell you the ones that were on government assistance.

See above I just responded to another guy saying that abuse of the system doesn't exist.

Pretty sure we can file that under "things that didn't happen".

I didn't say I wasn't an asshole, I will say I'm not a liar though.

I know what an ohio direction card looks like. People offer them all the time for 50 cents on the dollar. Were you too scared to go into the conveniance stores in the hood and see them buying chips and pop. Ask a cashier how many pay with EBT its a lot.

Famous last words.....

Sitting at home all day every day with no social life or activities is a pretty good indicator that they are substantially unwell, in some way or another. You say you could not live that way. Well guess what, it's because you have your health. Asshole.

But don't feel bad, I was an asshole, too, and thought I knew exactly what was wrong with these people, until I became one of them. Some things you just don't get, until it happens to you. Hell, I'd probably still be an asshole if it hadn't happened to me, so I can't fault you too much.

If someone's going to cheat just hope they don't get followed around by 60 Minutes. Like one time 60 Minutes shot the video of a guy lifting heavy objects into the back of a pickup while he was collecting checks for a bad back.

I'm not talking about disabilities read above. I perfectly understand people with major medical problems need help. I have herniated discs in my back it worries me every day. I'm talking about people abusing the system in general.

I did some digging in my state for you guys that want facts.

http://jfs.ohio.gov/pams/Reports/PAMS2014-04.stm

I skimmed it pretty quick this is just state disability its almost nothing compared to food stamps. My state pays out 220,000,000 a month to 15% of the population. Thats insane.

If you mean the people using all the benefits being unwell not just disability. From what I've noticed its popping out too many kids. They can't afford daycare to be able to work a dead end job.

Awwww, bless. The wealthier man is jealous of those at the bottom of the pile, casting glances of envy at the people who reside at the very bottom of the social status scale.

Will someone give him a hug?

Well given that the thread title is asking about how easy it is to get disability pay and no-one has actually claimed that scammers don't exist, I'm not really sure what point you think you're making.

All you've done is expose how badly you interpret what you see.

And how is any of that relevant to the thread?

The thread title is asking how easy it is to get disability pay and some people are claiming it's an easy path to a life of riches.

I know someone who applied for SSDI and VA Indemnity compensation after their spouse passed away. They got approved for both in less than 6 months.

They thought they would be fighting SS and the VA, but nope. They get around 2,700 a month from these two combined. All basically tax free.

Some issues have automatic approval as well such as low vision.

In my 4 years of experience...with Social Security / SSI disability claims, my answer is, "it depends". I've interviewed people who I would have thought (from interviewing) would be approved who didn't, and vice versa. And I'm not talking about compassionate allowance conditions like terminal cancer.

According to the statistics I've heard, 40% of people get approved on the first attempt. Not surprisingly, people can and will file an appeal when denied. I will only say that it tends to be more advantageous for claimants to appeal rather than get a new decision despite the length of time because the appeal if successful will go back as far as the initial (protected) application date, whereas a new application will mean giving up all appeal rights.

Yes you can work while applying for Social Security disability benefits, but the amount is low because by Social Security standards someone disabled cannot do or is incapable of "substantial gainful activity"(SGA; make more than $1070 per month) and must also have severe medical conditions. Certainly, it will mean less paperwork and documentation if you are not working since the issue of SGA won't come up.

There's a 5 step process to getting approved: http://www.ssa.gov/dibplan/dqualify5.htm I suppose the simplest explanation would be an inability to significantly work or find work and have significant/severe medical condition(s).

The only thing I will say about attorneys/representatives is that they are not necessary nor a guarantee to be approved. I've handled cases where people were denied, and people who were approved, both with and without attorneys / reps.

The stats I saw put it at more like 35% on the initial application (step 1), 10% on the request for reconsideration(step 2), and 50% when you get a hearing in front of a judge (step 3).

I'm pretty sure the government's strategy is to make it as long and painful a process as possible and hope that most people give up after step 1 or 2.

Getting disability pay from the military seems hard enough. I've been unable to work since April due to surgery and I haven't received a dime. The process is so slow...
