I want to order a ATI X850XT but Im a little concern because I have a shuttle Sb61G2 computer with a silentX pc40 250W PSU. I was wondering if it would have enough power to run a ATI X850 XT. Many claim that atleast 300W is necessary for current gen video cards.
I have 160 gig 7200 rpm HD with a Dual layer DVD drive in the comp. What do you think? Will it be alright? Im ordering it from the states to Japan so its a bit expensive if I have to send it back.. Also do you know if itll fit with out any modding?

yeah you definately need a bit more than 250W.. I run a 500W PSU with a ATI X800XL, DVD-ROM, 250 GIG SATA WD, etc.. and its perfect. In your case, I would say get at LEAST 450W. The newer cards do indeed need a lot more power. Hope that helps!

No that 250w is not enough to run it safely, but the at least 450 watt is a tad overkill for the X850XT. a quality 350 watt psu would do it, personally i would get a 400watt simply so i have some headroom, but anything more than that is overkill. Either of these brands would be good: Antec/Seasonic/Enermax/Fortron/PCP&C

Remember, you are talking about a Shuttle PSU, not some normal one.

A Shuttle 240W is superior to an Antec Trupower 480.

Thanks for your replies. Seems like all of the X850XT have dual slot cooling. My shuttle has an agp and a pci slot. The PCI slot is available so it should make room for the dual slot cooler

 We're not talking about Dualcore Prescott's here.

I would say that you look at the 12V rail on you PSU and tell us what is stated there. A 20,000 watt psu is not better than a 300 watt psu if it only has 1amp on each rail. If you 12V rail has 18+ amps I would say you are probably o.k.
