Is it hard to get a security clearance?

Depends on the level of clearance you need. I had TS-SCI (top secret secure compartmentalized information) clearance when I worked for the Naval Research lab. It took me about 14 months to get it, however. Be completely honest on your application. Drugs, crimes, etc... spill your guts. They are going to find out anyway, and its better to be honest than not say anything, as silence is considered lying by omission during the background check.

yes the online version, and I didnt have to psych eval for my clearance just my job...

You HAVE to have a sponsor. You cant try to get clearance for no reason.
