is it just me or are the bookmarks in ICS retarded?

so i noticed in ICS to open a bookmark you have to go to the top bar of the browser, hit the "windows" button select the current window (this is idiotic especially if you just started the browser from the homescreen) or make a new window then his the bookmark button in there, and then select your bookmark.

this seems utterly moronic. i mean i suppose this is what iOS people talk about when they say "polish". and why stock google doesnt work for most people.

and here is a screen shot of samsung touchwiz's browser.

notice the bookmark icon ON THE MAIN SCREEN, not in a menu. on htc sense its reload there, stock gingerbread. ICS has the window button there and the menu does .

seriously google, when people open a browser probably the most likely thing they are going to do if they hit browser from the home screen is a bookmark or enter a url. that is why samsung put the bookmark one there and everything else in the menu (i mean really i hit reload sometimes, but not as often as bookmarks, same with "windows")

so somehow ICS's stock bookmark implementation takes liek what, 4 touchscreen presses compared to touchwiz's 2 to open a bookmark from a new browser window. Google do you not have people who actually use cellphones? This is why we have manufacturer skins!!!!!

now i still overall like my stock ICS speedy experience and i can deal with it, but its simple little things like that that google needs to fix to really "win" this battle with regular people (i'm figuring people on anands can deal with these things we are geeks after all)

With a ~60% market share, they've pretty much already won.

Bookmarks on my phone never seem to be an issue, but the bookmarks in the ICS Browser took all of two seconds to find.

If you dislike it, grab Opera Mobile. It sets bookmarks right on the first panel when you open it. Not sure if Dolphin HD does or not, been a while since I've used it.

I think people are slowly figuring out that google has no idea how to design interfaces properly...I think they're finally getting close with ics though...I hope?

Small point of clarification to the OP. To access bookmarks normally you press the window button next to the URL bar then press the bookmarks button. You don't have to select any windows.

weird on the galaxy nexus clicking the 3 dots doesn't have bookmarks. I guess its not the same as hitting the capacitive menu button on nexus s. as for the holding down back button suggestion thanks that is really useful .

The quick controls in the ICS browser are very nice for accessing the address bar, bookmarks, and settings.
