Is it just me or is Amazon struggling with prompt package delivery?

I've noticed the past couple of months, pretty large percentage of my Amazon orders are running late. It's usually not much, maybe a day or two at most, but it's pretty frequent occurrence now. Before, I might had a package late maybe once a year if that. Now I might say it's 1 out of every 4 or 5 packages. Anyone experiencing anything similar? Or am I just unlucky?

The only late ones I get are odd items from non amazon shipping. But it's rare maybe 1 a year.

On the contrary, my prime has basically become one-day shipping as of late.

What's been happening to me lately is that it's become very common for me to get an "Undeliverable - Incorrect Street name or Street number" message the day my packages are *supposed* to be delivered and then get the package the next day. My address hasn't changed for years and I've yet to have a case where I get that message and it *doesn't* show up the next day. So I don't know what the issue is, but it's happening frequently enough to be pretty obnoxious.

i have been seeing alot more 'your package is running late when I check the status' but I still get them 2nd day....I live in North Dallas and there are some big distribution centers nearby so that probably makes a difference as well I think.

Late...no. More than two days...yes, plenty of time. But according Amazon's screwy logic, it's still two days, even though it's really delivered on the third day. Sometimes the shipping says Amazon Prime, two days...then you buy it, you get confirmation, and the shipping later updates to next week for whatever reason. You check and can see that the product is not on backorder. You cancel and re-buy, and it ships the next day. Those are rare.

Yeah so many packages for me lately are a day late as well, amazon is slipping.

Same here. Not the shipping, but just Amazon not getting it out the door in the first place. What good is it for an item Amazon is selling themselves, has it in stock and just doesn't get the order out the door for three business days? It should never take an order longer to be processed than shipped.

Had a package delayed at work because of a new driver on this route - the usual driver was taking a summer vacation. The noob driver couldn't find our door. Had to call us on the phone and postpone delivery another day.
Lesson: this time of year drivers go on vacation, and noobs take the reins. Impacting deliveries.

My current personal order is taking 8 days to arrive. Amazon sat on it for 6.
Back in July Amazon delivered my previous order in TWO DAYS. And I'm not even into Prime.

(both orders consisted of 3 supplements, FWIW)
ON FURTHER REVIEW: The July order contained an item from a 3rd party seller ... i.e. "Fulfilled by Amazon". THAT EXPLAINS the speed of fulfilment - 3rd party seller's reputation at stake.

A little birdie told me:

They give their courier drivers too many packages because they're misunderestimating delivery and travel times. The ones who can't work late (kids, family obligations, whatever) hold on to them until the next morning.

Meh, probably 90%+ on time. Regardless, it beats the heck out of having to "shop" with the masses and there being a decent chance that I won't find what I want. The packages are coming to my office so that may help with my deliveries.

I see a lot where they pick and choose when to deliver on weekends. Like I'll order something on a Friday expecting it by Monday and get it Sat or Sun. Then i'll order something Thursday hoping for Sat, nope, it will be here Monday or Tues. I guess it depends on the size.

Since Nov 80% of my stuff doesn't come in the time frame it shows on their site. Not a huge deal, but it's not 'normal'.

What's weird though is I had one package say it was delivered when it was not and it came 3 days later. I got another email last week that another order was delayed and in the way but I've already got that package 3 weeks ago.

Just want to add that Amazon three day prime is still way better than the fake two day (really 3-5 day) Walmart delivery. Only reason I sometime choose Walmart is because I don't want counterfeit or expired items on Amazon.

You must not be a Prime member. Amazon is improving the Prime customer experience to the detriment of non-Prime members.

I went through a period of a few months where a lot of deliveries were late or damaged. The packaging got better & now things generally show up on time. Maybe one out of 10 or 20 packages is a day later. But sometimes I also get stuff next-day for free, so it kind of balances out.

What I hate is when they use USPS instead of UPS to deliver. Then you have no idea when anything is coming haha.

I order a lot since I try and source everything through there for the businesses as well. I can't remember the last time I had something not show up on time.

Last year or so I feel like its 50/50 if I get 2 day shipping. Thing is the delivery date on the site is accurate, its just not 2nd day.

Same here. My prime has become same day or one-day depending on what time of day I order.

I've been getting FedEx deliveries instead of UPS the last 60 days. My driver says UPS is/was close to going on strike. Usually if something is running late for me, it's because of a 'weather delay'......in the middle of the Summer...

Amazon has always been awesome for me. Hell, i use primenow and love it. I've ordered things via same day normal Amazon, and they've driven the item from a warehouse 2 1/2 hrs away and delivered it same day in items i swear they have to be losing money on. Lol

Issues are almost always the delivery company, not Amazon.
