is it monitor or AGP card causing....?

I have three weird/bummer things happening that seem like they may be related. 1) random resets, usually while still booting or within a few minutes. This seems the most possibly NOT related problem, I guess. 2) The little thing my monitor (Mitsubishi diamond Plus91) used to display for a few seconds when I shut down (and the AGP signal cut out) now remains on indefinitely when the computer is off. 3) Often when I boot up, the display reverts to 600x800, and my normal OTF resolution utility results in garbled display, I have to restart to get it back.

This is a A7V133, Asus V6600 Gforce AGP, TBird 1200 not OC.

Since the monitor acts weird even when the computer's powered down, is it suspect? Could a internal monitor problem be 'feeding back' to the computer to cause these problems?

Well when did you first start seeing these symptoms.

The only way to know for sure whether it's the monitor or video card is by replacing one of them and see what happens. Try borrowing one from a friend's computer or something.

It could be just as easy as the monitor connection to your video cards needs a little cleaning. Or even clean the AGP slot and make sure that the video card is sitting firmly on your motherboard.

My first impression is that I'm suspecting the video card is at fault here.

Yeah I'm suspecting the video card too. This stuff just cropped up out of the blue about 3 weeks ago. It wasn't when I'd changed any hardware in the system or anything.

Anyone else with an insight?
