Is it possible to be a gay baptist?

Probably because they've already got their cover to make them appear straight. Same thing happens in the military.

Was just pointing out that a "baptist" is just someone that chooses to believe in a particular doctrine. Not that gays are necessarily condemned to hell...

Yes you can be openly gay and baptist. The church I referred to earlier has an openly gay preacher and encourages monogamous gay relationships.
