Is it possible to connect a PC to the monitor on a laptop?

You would need some sort of video input on your laptop though, and I don't know of many laptops that do have one if it exists.

I have never seen a laptop with a video in port or S-video in. They have video out and S-video out. It doesn't make any sense for laptop makers to spend money on something like that.

What it sounds like is that you perhaps want to dismember (cannibalize) a laptop and remove the LCD screen and use it on another computer. That could possibly done if you knew all the circuitry involved.

No, it's not possible, at least not the way you want it. You could have a USB capture card and use the input from there but obviously not going to be anywhere near the level of sharpness of a true connection.

For the purpose of saving money...no...the cure is worse than the disease.

Cheap monitors can be had today, thesedays you can get big corporate CRTs for like $20...ask your dad if they want to get rid of any at work

There was a thread around here somewhere that a guy wanted to watch a DVD on two different laptops at the same time.... There were some suggestions in it. Try searching for it.
I didn't read much of it to see if there were any working solutions given.

Yeah. I ended up just streaming the video from one to the other over a network.

You could use VNC or something like that, but it wouldn't be all that great of quality.
