Is it possible to have multiple networks?

Ok here is my dilemma. I currently have a wireless setup 802.11b with a netgear router. The internet browsing is fine, but the file transfer speeds are incredibly slow. The distance between my brother's room and mine is very small and we often share files, however, this wireless setup is incredibly slow. I have an old 4 port ethernet router and was wondering if i could use that to just share files between my brother and myself, and still use the wireless setup to have internet access at the same time?

Why not just plug your bro and your computer into the ports on the Netgear wireless router?

If you really wanted to go to the trouble, you could use your wireless networking for Internet access and use wired networking for file sharing. You could do this by binding TCP/IP only to the wireless NIC and NetBEUI only to the wired NIC. Turn off NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

100 Mbit wired is going to be about 20+ times faster than 802.11b in real world file transfer.

sorry for the lack of detail guys. The cable modem is plugged into the downstairs computer. My brother and me are upstairs and our rooms are no more than 10 ft apart. But all i want to do is use the wireless router for internet, and the wired router for file sharing.

Oh, well, in that case, just do what owensdj said. Set your computers to use your wireless setup for TCP/IP and your wired network for NetBIOS.

I believe using TCP/IP but only enabling file and print sharing on the wired card would work as well.
