Is it possible to have some server side code so messed up that it's crashing your host?

I'm in a web development class and it's basically a tutorial on creating and manipulating databases. It was a totally foreign concept to me before, but I think I'm beginning to grasp it little by little.

However, the issue I'm having is that whenever I click on one of 3 certain pages (an edit, add, delete inventory page) sometimes (rarely) I'll get the page to come up with the error (telling me which line the error is on) but other times the request times out, and then nothing on the website works. Even static pages time out... for about 10 minutes, then it's back to normal until I click on one of those 3 pages again, everything will time out again for 10 minutes. It's terribly hard to troubleshoot when it seems to be going down for 10 minutes every time I click on the page I'm working on.

hopefully that makes sense.

I'm basically using all of dreamweaver cs3's built in sql code which has been working fine until now. Would the problem be on the main page that is the hub or whatever you would call it of these three other pages?

if you need more information or would like to look at the page to see what is happening I can pm you the link.

Thanks in advance

edit: My hosting is provided through Godaddy

I just clicked on the edit inventory link and this is what showed up:

  • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

    [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.1.22-max-log]General driver defined error

    /acme/administration/editinv.asp, line 25

Line 25 of the code looks like this:

  • Set rsMainpage = rsMainpage_cmd.Execute

the delete page comes up with this error:

  • Provider error '8000ffff'

    Catastrophic failure

    /acme/administration/invdel.asp, line 20

and line 20 looks like:

  • rsMainpage_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_oConn_STRING

Yes, I've seen our entire website (a Top 30 site, about 200 frontend webservers) crash due to bad code many times.

I'd have to see more of the code, but it sounds like bad SQL.
