Is it possible to put cruise control in a vehicle without it?

My Truck doesn't have cruise control
After driving my parent's minivan, which had cruise control, I miss it.
I was wondering if it's possible to put cruise control in my truck and would it be worth my money to do so?

Usually you buy an aftermarket kit. It's about $100 or so.

just put a brick on the gas pedel, then tie a rope around the brick and tie the other end around some non moving object. Please make sure the brick is putting the amount of weight on the gas pedel to get ur wanted speed.

or just use ur foot!

I never understand why you people in ATOT make everything so fvcking trivial. Cruise control is for lazy people? Bah! You'd bitch about Gatorade making pop-top bottles because it's only for those lazy who don't want to twist the cap off.

Cruise control is an absolute must for me, as I drive the interstate every day. And I don't use it because I'm "lazy" (like it takes a lot of effort to push the pedal), I use it because it helps me "control" (hence, cruise control) my speed, and not speed up and down because I'm not paying 100% attention on my throttle control. I hate people who make me turn off the cruise control who do not have it or do not use it.

yeah, cruise is GREAT for long road trips. My current car doesn't have it, though

What I wish I had was the MB cruise-control...where it keeps you at a given speed, but if you're coming up behind someone, it will match speeds with them until you have an open road again, then return to your set speed. That's an awesome addition to regular cruise.

Now that would be awesome. It makes driving on the interstate so much easier when you're able to use cruise control, and it also has kept me out of a few possible tickets. I know around where I live that there are a lot of roads that are 55MPH, and you can easily do 75 on them if you aren't paying attention. I set it at 60, and don't worry about a thing.

Yes, I have a tendency to too frequently look at the spedometer. Cruise control sets some peace in my mind that I'm going at a consistent speed. I know there is this long stretch in this town near me that I don't know why but I have a tendency to want to go fast, even though it's only a 30 MPH zone. So, I set the cruise to ~30 so I can devote my attention to wathching to making sure there aren't kids dartig out in the road.

As others have said, there are aftermarket kits or for some vehicles you can buy factory parts to add it. My Jeep, for instance, has all the wiring in place - would just have to buy the necessary unit under the hood and then the steering wheel control, plug and play.

PS: Cruise control in most cars isn't rocket science by any means... it is typically a vacuum actuator that pulls on the throttle cable and holds it at a specific spot.
