Is it safe to refill my epson ink cartridge?

Well, I have refilled my Epson 600 several times. All I can say is you do save a chunk of change, but it is a royal PITA to do. To refill a 3 color cart takes me about 20 mins. It makes a real mess if you aint carfull. It makes a mess if you ARE carefull. If you dont fill it just right, it gets air bubbles in it and will not print correctly. I bought a refill kit that did each color about 10 times for around $20 at a computer show. I dont refill any more tho. You can find generic color carts for ~$7 and black for around $5 if you look around. Check E-bay, there are butt-loads of auctions for them. My vote is refill(NO), cheap generic cartridges(YES).

Yeah, most refill brands are good but some suk. I use "nomi" brand (they come with rainbow coloured insert on the front of a clear plastic package) black refills with my Stylus 740.

I recommend NOT refilling color inks, because they are a pain in the ass, and are never near as good as epson genuine stuff. Not even the non-epson disposible inks cartriges suk, though you don't have to go thorugh the hassle of refilling.

But the quality of non-epson black ink's are pretty good, you can't tell the difference (though it may lack in performance in areas like drying time).

I just put a new generic printer cartridge into my Epson yesterday. When I printed it wasn't Epson quality but alright. Today nothing will come out of the cartridge. This is the second generic cartridge to do that. The type is Color Jet, w/ the C and the J white, and the other letters are red and yellow. I may buy a less crappy generic. Or go back to Epson. <gasp>

I tried it with an Epson Stylus Colour 400, the results were bad, and within a few months, it kept on clogging up and smudging ink all over my work... that is when I changed to an 860
