Is it safe to remove or at least replace the fan on the northbridge of my Epox 8KHA+ ?

The fan is starting to vibrate and make a lot of noise.

1) is it safe to just remove it or just pull the plug on the fan

2) where can I get a fan to replace it?

Try it, it's not gonna harm your mobo, you still need the heatsink though
but the fan is not that important unless you do some serious OC.

Blue or Crystal Orb from Therhaltake are nice
or call EPOX for a replacement.

Blue orb won't work. Cystal orb is same dimensions so i'm pretty sure that wouldn't work. You could just buy a new fan and replace it.

On my epox, I removed that fan. She stills rocks like hell. :Q

I'm going to be replacing my Northbridge fan on my Epox 8KHA+ as soon as I find out what fan is best for it. I realize I could call Epox for a warrantied stock fan, but is there something that I can buy that will make it even cooler? Any suggestions welcome.

I've seen the Zalman chipset cooler kit which may work well in this type of situation. It's just a big heatsink(well big for chipset heatsinks) that doesn't require a fan. I guess it would be good for those that don't want the fan spinning on the chipset anymore, but aren't satisfied with the stock epox heatsink. Thinking about ordering one myself, but wanted to find out a little more about it first.
