Is it still crazy to scan 1000 magazines?

How exactly did you scan all these things in? Did you just open the magazine to the first page, scan it, then flip to the next page, scan it, etc?

I was thinking it'd probably be faster to use a band saw or something to cut off the very edge of the magazine where the pages are all stuck together... ANd then jsut stick it in a color copier/scanner that does double sided. Could have been done in no time.

Neat, I would have given up, ripped the pages out of the magazines and used an automatic document feeder. Good enough scans.

Sure that would have been faster (I did have to do that with the glued binding mags) but for the staples ones....... why not save them and give them to another hobbyist. Beats throwing them in the land fill.

I don't have a duplexing automatic scanner so I would not go that route anyways. I used my trusty (although slow) Canon Canoscan 670U

You must like doing it all in one big chunk. Ill ask the obvious... why not scan them when you get them?

I do with the staples ones......... but I prefer to wait for one year before I take apart the ones bound by glue.

I can't believe your almost through, I remember when you just started, and were talking about how long it would take. your original scanner lasted through them all? I definately would have crapped out long ago. I have the patience of a 2 year old.

Yup....... the original scanner is still functioning. Only damage is one lid cover hinge is broken but you can still use it

That is quite impressive, you should email canon about your success with their product. That is a lot of images scanned with it. Maybe you could be an example of their quality lol.

I have a small 60-page book I want to scan, how to make it a pdf? or any better format? where to get the tools for that? I'll scan them and save them as TIFF (or any lossless format), but what tools to use? a scanning noob here...
