BTW, have you actually looked back into your scanned collection for an article? Basically, is your massive article collection useful to you? If I were to do something like this I would think that I wouldn't even use it.

I did a similar, albeit MUCH smaller personal project a couple years back. The irony now is here at work we got, about 6 months ago, a pair of color copiers that have automatic document feeders and that will scan to a PDF. There's a girl here scanning all of her husband's medical school notes... drops a stack in and hits start... 15 minutes later she's got a 200 page PDF.

IF only I'd procrastinated...

BTW, with newer versions of acrobat, you can batch OCR your files. I'd suggest trying a few first to see how it does - OCR can really do a craptastic job if you don't have a clean image to work from, but can sometimes really give a lot of bang for the buck.

Not yet .......... I will when I finally get the DB done and I can recycle the magazines (they fill about 7 file boxes).

he whole point ofthe project was to preserve my magazine collection and to make some room in my closet.

I wish I did have a document feeder scanner......... would have madee my life a bit easier. My trusty Canoscan 670U has served me well thought
