Is it time for a new mouse?

Okay I installed a SB Live Value card into my second system... and ever since my mouse has been going haywire... clicking on its own, scrolling around like crazy, opening folders, closing folders all on it own. No I am not lying either. Its a Microsoft Intellimouse PS/2. Also my FSB is at 83... It doesn't act "possessed" when the FSB is at 66... but at 75,83 it does. But before the SB Live was installed (only thing I installed recently)it worked great witn the FSB @83. Anyone know WTH is going on?

EDIT: It also acts funny when I am @66 FSB... so scratch that. Oh well these things are cheap so I might as buy another one if another solution doesn't present itself.

try moving the card to another IRQ, sounds like a conflict with the mouse. also try reinstalling the mouse driver. I am unfamiliar with this particular card, so unfortunately that is all I can offer.

Yeah... okay didn't think of that. I had my older sound card in the same slot before.

Changing IRQ's wouldn't allow Windows too boot up at all. I had one open IRQ (3) and placed it there. Anyway I just changed its slot and seems to be working "fine" now (knock on wood).

Well okay IRQ changed to 3... and the PCI slot is changed as well. Getting the same problem though.

Try IRQ 5. If your comp refuses to boot when changing IRQs, there is another
underlying problem. make sure the old sound card software is uninstalled.

try removing the sound card and see if u get the same problem

Okay IRQ changed to 5. The old drivers are completely removed. Not sure yet on the mouse, usually doesn't happen right away. If it does I'll remove the Live and see if the problem persists.

Okay last option hasn't helped at all. I removed the SB Live card completely from my system and so far (20 mins) the problem with the mouse has gone away. Now when I try to install new MS drivers for my mouse I get a BSOD and have to reboot. Strange eh?

Oops spoke too soon. Mouse is still "flaky"... it just close my explorer window then proceeded to move my taskbar to the side. Don't ask my I was even touching the mouse. This is some weird sh*t... and the BSOD when installing new drivers is weird too.

I would just dump the mouse. You can get a Logitec USB optical for $29.95 US...

Okay I tried another mouse and the problem hasn't occurred. It was just weird that one day it was working fine and right after I installed the Live card it has been flaky... but with the Live removed the mouse is still screwy.
