Is it time for new running shoes?

I did some googling and came to the conclusion that running shoes should be discarded every 300-400 miles. Of course, this varies from person to person.

I'm 6' 00", 155lbs.

Treadmill Miles: ~290 Miles
Avg speed: 10 MPH

Elliptical Miles: ~190
Avg speed: 10 MPH

Total Jump Rope time: ~4.5 Hours

This was an 8 month time span and that's all the cardio I do with JUST these running shoes.

I'm not flat footed, but I don't have the greatest Arch and lately my knees have been starting to hurt and as a result I've been trying to pay attention to my pronation while running and I THINK they're over pronating but I don't know if it's just some kinda placebo effect that's going on.

Seems like I'm ready for a new pair... just needed some assurance!

I am around 240 lbs and run a few marathons a year, so I tend to crush the cushion out of my shoes pretty quickly. A few hundred miles is plenty to justify getting a new pair. Most of my distance runs are on pavement, though. Problem is I end up with a ridiculous number of shoes with perfectly good uppers and soles, just not enough cushion left for running in. I only need so many pair of mowing the lawn shoes.

On the treadmill, I find I can get away with wearing just about any shoe since the treadmill deck has enough give to it that the amount of cushion my shoes have doesn't matter. Same for eliptical, since that's no impact.

Just by another pair. Whats the worst thing that could happen? That you have two pairs of running shoes? You probably need a new pair anyway.

At a number of races I've done, they collect running shoes for various charitable purposes. There are a lot of shoes out there just like yours

Can you even apply elliptical miles on a pair of running shoes? Doesn't seem like an elliptical puts the same wear on it since the soles aren't striking the floor.

For me, it hits the balls of my feet. Have had to use gel inserts to make it more comfortable.

I only buy new running shoes if they are all torn up and feel uncomfortable. The last pair I bought cost about 25 bucks and had them for more than 6 months(running and casually everyday activities).
