Don't know about Harvard, but I do know that Stanford allows you to drop the class at the last minute, and by last minute I mean before the final exam.

Without any academic penalty or it being showed up in your transcript???? That's messed up man.

I heard about this too. I doubt anyone would actually do it unless they know they were failing. Otherwise, it'd be a huge waste of time and money considering how much tuition costs.

Cost doesn't matter if you're rich, does it?

My father went to Harvard and they did not have any such program in place (though admittedly that was some time ago).

I've read the same thing as others here. That basically at the top schools, the admissions is the hardest part. Once you get in, it's almost impossible to fail out. Imagine if you had a bunch of people failing Harvard? How would that look at that school?

There is a very legitimate / scientific paper written on this very subject. It includes UC's as well.

Last day to drop a class was like a month or a month and half before the semester was over.

I guess I'm a little naive but I assumed that was the way most schools did it.

Same at my place, GPA gets a boost but you retain both on your transcript.

At West Va U, I believe you could take the better of the two times you took the class only for your frosh and soph years... after that, u can't change what you got.
