Is it worth an RMA?

My motherboard (GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3) has been booting with one long beep followed by one short one since day 1. There are no issues (to my knowledge) and it runs fine. The only issue is at start-up.

Is this worth an RMA for the board? If I don't RMA it, am I doing any damage to anything? I have not heard good things about Gigabyte Customer Service, but then...they haven't dealt with me

The last time I rma'd to gigabyte they did me right but that was after a phone call so I cannot attest to how your experience would be. Does your manual describe the beeps during boot? I tried to look at the manual on their site and it was just a basic installation manual without anything else.

Assuming you have an AWARD BIOS, GB's FAQ (and other sites) says it's an (unspecified) memory problem. First off, I'd check to be sure the RAM is properly seated. If that doesn't help, test it in another machine if possible. If that's not possible or it tests OK, I think I'd RMA it while it's still under warranty myself.

Thank you both. As it is still under warranty, I am going to RMA it because all 4 sticks of memory test okay on a similiar mobo.

Try stress testing the memory with a memory testing software, such: as memTest. Could also be a PSU problem. Try swapping in another "known good" power supply, if one is available.
