I am building a new machine based on Broadwell-E and initially thought that this was a no brainer upgrade. However, based on reviews from Anandtech, random read, which impacts how quickly programs are opened and how quickly the system loads, has barely moved from 95 MB/s to 110 MB/s.
Sequential writes and reads are obviously a lot faster due to the newer interface, but when does that really come into play?
I game, do some big calculations in Excel (which is where the 6 cores comes in) and other random stuff. What I thought was a clear upgrade seems like is actually not really worth extra $500 or so.
Am I missing something, or does going from a solid SSD to 960 EVO not going to have that much of an impact?
