Honestly, I'm not sure it would be worth it. It is often said you need a 10% difference in performance to even NOTICE a difference. Now, if you go from that 1900 to a 2400, its only like a 12% difference in pure clock speed (i think, correct me if im wrong). And, processors dont scale absolutely directly, so the performance difference might not even be 10%. But even if it was, is a 10% diff worth 379 pounds? I dont think so. Even if you overclock, i dont think the performance delta will be huge. My general rule of thumb is to never upgrade within the same architecture, unless you can double your clockspeed or something like that. The simple fact is, you probably wont see much difference. However, if you get the next newest greatest architecture, you probably WILL notice a difference.

But thats just me, hope it made sense

Butch

EDIT: Saw that you have waterkewling. Even so, i stick to my original post. Could you use the mobo you have now? If you just switched out cpus, it *might* be worth it. But then again, i still think its a good idea to wait for a new architecture!

oops forgot to address the question lol

id prolly wait for the next one (either the barton or the athlon 64) before an upgrade for yourself...

I agree that you should wait a bit. Incremental upgrades are usually not the most cost effective route!

I won't upgrade now, that small improvement will treat you nothin'
Suggest on video card or other technologies like Athlon MP's or P4 Hyperthreading.

Personally, I'd think not. I guess 379 pounds translates into over $500. But anybody that does water cooling isn't much concerned about money, I would say.

According to somebody who contacted ABIT, they are currently shipping their nForce mobo WITH the holes, so you could contact your dealer and see what they have.

LOL. Judging by peoples signature lines, they must have some funny stuff on The Simpsons. How come whenever I tried to watch it, it was 95% creepy and repulsive rather than funny? Maybe there is one writer that does all the funny bits, and the rest are dreary creeps?

Worth it = You have the spare cash and need to feel better about being closer to the bleeding edge of technology.

Not Worth it = Performance (Real World, NOT synthetic bench's) will be negligable.

Ps. But hey, If you do the upgrade you get to change your sig...Hahahaha

I'd say ditch the 2400+ and get the XP 2100+ Tbred B. Many people with air cooling are hitting 2.2-2.3ghz, while the 2400+ is doing around the same if not a little lower. Should save about 80-90$ in USD (don't know how much that equates too in monopoly money hehe ).

The Epox also gives you a lot higher voltage options then other motherboards (I'm pretty sure up to 2.2v). So that should be better for your watercooling.

Do you need to upgrade? nah

Do you want to upgrade? I get that same itch man, I know how it feels. I scrapped my 2400+ for a 2100+ Tbred just cause it would overclock higher.

i think u guys might be right about waiting for the next new stuff on the block.
My xp1900 has been runnin @ 1890 (157x12 - 2.2vcore @ 36degs) so i guess the increase in speed will be minimal.
the mobo on the other hand could do with being upgraded as i can't run it stable on 166mhz. it keeps crashing, BSOD and games are crap when under it.
So i guess this becomes a question of a new mobo and the corsair mem. It's very cheap @ 155 quids for 512 pc3500!!!!
not sure when the athlon64 is due for release or a PAPER RELEASE like before.
think i'm gonna wait for the new chip and poss the geforce FX or the r350.
