Is it worth upgrading my HSF to an XP 120 with fan from my current HSF?

i have an awesome rig at the moment and am wondering if its worth the investment. The one i have now seems ok, but ive heard great things about the XP 120. also, if i did go this route, whats a good 120mm fan to place on top?

I swithed from a zalman 9500 to a
THERMALRIGHT SI-120 High Performance Heatsink with a
ASPIRE 120mm Blue LED Light Cooling Fan 2000 rpm

temps are about 2-3c lower idle/load plus less noise

Get a Panaflo H1A or U1A, connect it to your cpu fan switch and in your DFI Bios set it to spin at 100% when temps get passed 55ºc....the mobo will control the fan speed at all time...and it makes no noise...it's a pleasure!!

Firstly, you have to ask yourself if 40mhz (and the inherent joy of rounder numbers) is worth the extra outlay for an SI-120. Admittedly, it will in most cases be quiter aswell so that may be an extra justification. ou won't notice 40Mhz extra. Especially on a 2.66Ghz dual core.

2-3degrees under load might mean that you feel happier giving the CPU a bit more voltage, which will be needed if you want over 2.7 (I should think, unless you have Jesus' own 4400+)

It's up to you. Congratulations on the rig though, any pics? The SI-120 might also help cool some other components around the CPU, which could help your OC/stability. If you decide a 2-3 degree difference is worth it, then make sure you have some utterly invisible wiring and awesome case airflow too, as that can be accomplished for free and could easily help drop temps by those kind of levels.

yeah the cpu load is peaking at 53 C. thats pretty hot, but its totally stable. im still considering the investment of the xp120, but not sure yet.

Thats a higher temp then what I am comfortable with, especially with a 90nm processor. My 130nm FX-55 doesn't even hit that temp on full load when overclocked...Just my two cents mate.

P.S. I know its a dual core processor by the way...
