Yes its one of those threads I'm currently running 2 560's (non-TI) SLI'ed @ 2560X1440 while gaming. Is it worth upgrading right now with all the AMD promos or am I better off waiting until the next gen nvidia cards?

I'm leaning towards holding off but?

Next generation cards are around the corner, if you aren't having TOO much issue with your SLI'ed 560s then I would hold off.

The 1GB of VRAM on those cards is going to hold you back a bit - they really aren't that great for 2560x1440. Where you're not VRAM-limited, your cards will perform slightly below an HD7950. It's a good time for you to upgrade - the current AMD game offerings are great, and no, new cards are not just around the corner. The latest estimate is Q3 2013.

I'd say go for it - you can still sell those cards for a bit of money, making the upgrade less expensive. Of course, you should mention what your CPU is, as that will make a big difference in determining whether it's a worthwhile upgrade.

Right now I'm on a BF3 jag and its fine. I can get my FPS to stay over 60. Termie my CPU is a I7-2700K

Ok, I'd say go for the 7970 if you want crysis and bioshock. You could definitely sell your current cards for a good amount, and the improvement will be significant.

EA just announced in 90 days some BF4 info. It's proably a year away. Let's hope the game is advanced enough for PC gamers. Battlefield 4 Beta

The only incoming cards are going to be very high priced GK110 variants. I don't think anything near the 300 dollar price point.

If it's fine for your purposes, you could keep waiting. You could always overclock the 560's in the meantime. I am sure you'll be able to pick up C3 and Bioshock Infinite for reasonable prices on eBay. If you are advantegrous, you can put up your GTX560s for sale and see what they fetch. If you can sell them for $150-160, then I'd get a single HD7950 for $280.

At your resolution, HD7950 V2 is nearly 2x faster than GTX560Ti x 2.

With overclocking, the HD7950 would be crushing GTX560 SLI in BF3 as I believe GTX560 SLI is only as fast as a GTX660Ti.

As far as I read, HD8000/GTX700 aren't due until Q4 2013. There are rumors of Titan migrating to lower price levels, possibly by Summer 2013. Not sure how that coincides with GTX700 being delayed to Q4 2013 though.

Try taking out one 560 and playing your usual games. I am serious.

I have a 560ti 448 @ 2560x1440 and it plays what I want just fine. Depending on the Titan pricing I might just go for it as I never do so what the heck. But I'm not paying $900.

correct. the HD 7950 boost even at stock would perform better than GTX 560 SLI. Also most of the games like BF3 would run into VRAM bottlenecks if you want to run MSAA 4x. With a HD 7950 boost overclocked to 1.1 ghz you match a HD 7970 Ghz. With a HD 7950 at 1.2 Ghz playing BF3 multiplayer ultra 4x msaa at 2560 x 1440 would be possible.

the earliest launch date for HD 8000 / GTX 700 series is early Q2. And there is no upcoming product at USD 300 which is going to be better than HD 7950 boost. the HD 8870 is expected to be priced at USD 280. 1792 shaders at 1.1 ghz running on a 256 bit memory bus at 6 Ghz.

http://videocardz.com/36122/amd-radeon-hd-8000-series-specifications-analysis

the average overclock for the HD 7950 boost is 1100 - 1150 mhz. with the 384 bit memory bus the HD 7950 performs very well in bandwidth demanding games like crysis (MSAA 8x), Metro 2033 (DOF with MSAA 4x), Sleeping Dogs (SSAA).

Also with the current game bundle (crysis 3 and bioshock infinite) and with games like crysis 3 due for launch in 2 weeks time now is probably the best time to buy a HD 7950 boost.

for USD 300 (usd 280 after rebate) the Sapphire HD 7950 boost is an excellent card. very good cooler. make sure you can fit this card as its 29 cm long.
