Well, someone here mentioned the 512Mb k-byte at officemax so I had to jump on that deal. I bought 4 dimms, will use at most 2 of them and sell the rest. I was looking at the modules, 1 of them has modules made by 'Spectek' the other 3 by 'Ace.' Whoever said 'refurb Micron' is not really on the right track, maybe in some aspects but...
Spectek is descibed at their website as "a part of the Micron Technology family of companies, a business group recognized worldwide as leaders in memory technology." The module with the Spectek holographic label also said "assembled in the USA." (their website is
http://www.spectek.com).
I read that Ace is based out of Singapore, their website is
http://www.ecasia.com.sg. Not much known about them, they do seem to be pretty reliable from most newsgroups I looked thru. The modules were easily identified by looking at the clear bottom of the container they come in, at least the ones I bought (

The 'Spectek' name (and hologram) were not visible until I opened it up, I did see the block S logo (seen in the upper left of their webpage) from the clear underside. Hope this sheds some light on the subject.
