Is Malwarebytes good for real-time protection?

I usually recommend a paid-for security product (e.g. Norton, Kaspersky, Bitdefender) for real-time protection and periodic (weekly) automatic scans, then using Malwarebytes Free as a 'second-opinion' security product that is run manually only when a security threat, trojan, or malware infection is suspected.

I know Malwarebytes is excellent for potentially malicious PUPs, adware, and malware in this regard but how is the Premium (paid-for) version for comprehensive antivirus/trojan/worm/malware real-time protection?

There a plenty of people using Mbam paid along with an AV to protect their machines. I really haven't read of any complaints. It just adds another layer of protection.

You should also consider looking into some sort of pro-active protection. There is a whole other world full of protection options other than signature based programs. Windows has built in options, there are light virtualization apps, anti-exploit apps, sandboxes, anti-executables, HIPS, behavior blockers, etc. All of those will protect your machine way better than an anti-virus or anti-malware. The trick is being willing to step outside your comfort zone and find something that works for you and the way you use your machine.

MBAM Premium does real time protection. The Threat Scan is pretty good at finding PUPs which can then be deleted. I use it in conjunction with MSE. They work well together and do not impose undue delays in data management.

It's all voodoo magic.

The only thing Antivirus is good for these days is blocking known viri. Other than that it's dead in the water.

It's an out of date model, no matter how much you twist and turn it.

I could write infectious code right now that would bypass all antivirus on the market.

Based on personal experience or AV reviews?

Both. I've used Norton and Malwarebytes Pro on different family members computers. When they are switched from Malwarebytes Pro to Norton, the infections generally decrease without a change in usage habits.

I hate Norton, just too bloated for me personally.

Malwarebytes, NoScript and MSE works for me I guess.

Are a few odd things in here also, but they probably aren't pertinent in general.

I do not use their real time I guess.

To clarify, I'm not asking for myself but rather as solution for others whom aren't as savvy in security. e.g. neighbors, family members, the general computing public

Note: Malwarebytes is NOT antivirus.
Carry on.

Sort of correct - it is more than AV. "Advanced Malware Detection and Removal of Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Rootkits, Dialers and Spyware." What virus is not detected?
