As much as I appreciate what our armed forces has done for us and those who have sacrificed their lives, I feel as if Memorial Day is a bigger thing for:
1) A BBQ
2) The beginning of summer. Vegas pool parties go crazy. Sure they opened for spring break and slowly ramped up, but this is the weekend where the top DJs (Kaskade, Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, etc.) spin. It's where pool party and Vegas summer kicks off.
3) It's graduation for my alma mater and where I'm finishing up my grad degree. It marks the end of school.
4) It's the first long weekend since President's Day, and if you're in one of those companies that celebrated MLK instead of President's day, this is the first long weekend in 4 months! The next few are more closely spaced (July 4th, Labor Day). You get a flurry of summer holidays, but to me this is the big stretch.
5) I feel like this is a real good road trip opportunity. President's day for me is usually for skiing in Tahoe (as a Californian), but May marks the time where I feel like I'd want to drive to LA, San Diego, or Las Vegas. The weather is much nicer now you can head out and enjoy it.
Its an awesome party weekend in Vegas.
You going? I went last year and it was amazing! I'm sad I'm missing out this year especially with A&B spinning. I happen to be missing out on that day 1 EDC which means I'd be missing out on A&B my favorite DJs...
