Is Mouse Dying?

Hi.

My fav mice----thank God, I bought a lot of them after buying first one---no longer being made, are Fireline USB optical mice made by Sunbeam. Very inexpensive, but wonderful.

They came both a blue LED strip and a red one.

The one I was using with this desktop....suddenly had its LED strip start to flicker at the distant end, beyond the scroll wheel.

I just replaced it with one of my spares. I had more, but I gave them away to friends who fell in love with them.

Is the flickering one dying? Is there something I can do to stop the flickering?

Thank you.

I am handy.....I just tried, sick mouse, inexpensive to begin with, can't be opened, really, and no pressure applied anywhere does away with this flicker, and among those I still have, that was the newest one, was still on its original card when this new system arrived.

Good I have some left (along with garden variety optical ones) and din give them ALL AWAY, but I just delved and I despised every single USB LED optical mouse I saw anywhere.

I guess I will stick with my older Firelines like the one now hooked up.....until they all get sick, maybe they won't

Only mice I have ever loved.

Hilarious update, unplanned.

I am a tenacious little human, thank goodness. So, in my focused desire to find more of the only mice I have ever loved ....despite it seems they are no longer available anywhere....I began to delve. Eventually, I came upon some vendor in China who implied they had them! And, with the right pic of THE MOUSE IN QUESTION on their site.

I got they sell in quantity, may well be Mfgs, but I din care, I had nothing to loose, I am having big mouse lust, remember..... so I followed up using their contact button and sent an email.

They responded, I replied.....and then, they arrived with the data I needed re specifics.....AND a NUMBER, tho it is for some replacement mouse, I am sure, garbage, or else such as Newegg would be offering it. The number, boys and girls, is (drum roll)....

....FIVE HUNDRED!

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHhahahahah, O M G.

I will now paste, latest first, upload the image from the file they attached....then redact personal data. ENJOY!!!!!

Sudden inspiration/afterthought!

Just suddenly got, why not link Newegg to this thread? I am sure, given they are Newegg: sharp and discerning and salt of the earth, they assess hardware every minut,e and might, by some miracle, find this Mandarin speaking knockoff mouse (NOT SUNBEAM AT ALL) WORTHY and BUY A TRUCKLOAD OF THEM!!!!!

And then, we could all get them! Dozens of them!

Being Newegg, they could also ask for samples to assess. As huge worldclass vendor, bet they do that all the time!

I am going to do this linking right now! Why not????

Update:

OK, done....boy, back in the day you din have to go thru hoops to send them a simple email. But now, you do.
I sent them the link. You never know unless you try.

Edit!

Only just now, saw.....under 'price" they say "could be negotiated." hahahahahahahahahahah.

Also just saw they say "very cute design." hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahhh

Wait! CE--only just now saw that too--- is a long standing, reputable company, right??? They have been making things forever, tech related things, cameras, drives, all kindsa items, right? I remember seeing the logo on many items!!!! CE.

Maybe this mouse isn't total garbage, and maybe Newegg might choose to buy some and offer them!!!

O!!!!!!!

Sigh. Ok, hardly for the first time, I got too optimistic too soon---that is my default mode: I just delved and learned what CE represents:

http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/everyday-tech/question135.htm

It's a standard, not an actual Mfg. And who knows the reality of the standard?

you crack me up Virgo. Good luck with your mouth-to-mouth mouse ressucitation

Thanks for this, you made me smile. Is true, in the midst of serious as a heart attack I do find the funny/irony.

The sick mouse is in my mouse bin; I replaced it with one of my two remaining blue ones; the old, but still healthy mouse is sitting to my left as I type.

Pretty sure there ain no Santa, but there is still a remote possibility that Newegg will use the link to this thread I gave them, follow up, get some samples from these people in China, test them, find the knockoff ones are not TOTAL garbage, negotiate a price, buy the minimum, 500 and offer them to us!:whiste:

When Gobal Warming starts slowing down spontaneously....this will absolutely happen. I plan to buy a dozen when it does.()

K.....just found a cousin to my mice on Subeamtech site, also no longer available, it seems.

http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/BULE%20EYE/BULE%20EYE.html

I just emailed Sunbeamtech and linked them to this thread.

Asked if they have any plans to offer this mouse or closely related mice..... ever again.

Maybe they have a few in a drawer trying to get out and move in my direction!!!! I would happily pay to facilitate that.

They make cases, coolers, fans, and even THERMAL PASTE!!!!

I now see, on the stickers on the bottoms of my remaining mice, the CE logo appears along with the others, and yes, says made in China. Cept, what isn't now?

Form is meant to follow function. Even gaming mice not posed to look like special effects from DC Comics. My mice are perfectly sized, shaped, domed.... subtle ergonomics, simple, sleek, viable. Elegant. Perfectly responsive buttons and scroll wheel. And, for something this inexpensive, made really well!

I WANT MY MICE!!!!!!!!

Not even POSSIBLE they do not have a small litter of my mice......in a little cage somewhere there, dying to be liberated...make a journey and hook up with my USP ports...and live where they will be loved.

WAIT!!!!! MY MOUSE MONOGAMY just became THREATENED!

I came upon a new cutie!

Cherry JM-0300 Gentix Corded Optical Mouse JM-0300 RUBBER SIDES/SCROLL WHEEL

Not very unlike mine, bigger, that's not terrible, given the design is excellent, AND, It seems, made by Cherry! I only use Cherry KBs .....German, amazing quality! I downloaded the PDF spec sheet.....blue leds on the sides, broader than mine, well designed AND with REAL RUBBER SIDE GRIPS....my side grips are just molded into the plastic. And, 1000 dpi.... sharper tracking than my 800!

Symmetrical, I am left handed.......and, if it really is Cherry which makes my KBs, it is made magnificently!!!!
A two year warranty!? Seriously? OMG!

Edit: Yes! It is Cherry, my go to Mfg for accessories!!!! I had no clue they made mice!!!!!!

http://www.cherrycorp.com/

Look at this mouse! I now have major chemistry with and lust for this new cutie! I am going to hook up!

And, there are tons of them on eBay: UK vendors, American vendors, really good prices....also on Amazon, but for more money.

I can only hope, this don mean I have suddenly turned into a ....mouse slut.

No offense, but those are seriously ugly. I've have to see one in the flesh but those pics make them look terrible. I much prefer my G500, or any logitech for that matter.

As for the mouse slutness, go for it man! Don't skimp on mouse love!

Hey!

Not only no offense taken, I appreciate yr input!

Now, I checked out yr mouse. first, you are a gamer, remember, I am not. I have no need for 10 buttons, or that level of precision, never have, never will. Next, not sure if your Logitech G500 is symmetrical or not. I need symmetrical cause I am (very) left handed.

I don't switch the buttons functions as do some Southpaws, I just move my index finger from one to the other. I don't switch them so I can use other systems easily, wherein the buttons are set for right handed humans.

I dunno, I think we are each unique, including re our aesthetics.

And thanks for divesting me of the mouse slut thingy, that was just fabulous, and you are RIGHT re mouse love!! I agree, every part of our systems=important depending on our individual needs, and we should never skimp!

MICE MATTER A LOT!!!!

I think my experience with Logitech has mainly been limited to KBs, and I found them all badly made. Again, one reason I will get one of these new mice I unearthed, is whatever Cherry makes is splendid quality and engineering. Until yesterday, I had no clue they even made mice!!!

Re the one in question, I like the size, the shape and the rubber grips.

We shall see!!!!

Great!

The precision is a gimmick, for the most part. Most professional gamers use 800-1200dpi mouses. What is really a huge benefit is the added keys, and let me tell you: I ONLY use them for productivity. Games are usually designed with two key mouses in mind, so it's very rare that I use them in games (except for The Sims 3, where they come real handy), but for browsing, Photoshop, music, editing, all that, additional keys on the mouse are fantastic, because you can add macros and keyboard shortcuts to them, and it speeds up your work immensely.

If you wanted gaming, I'd suggest an old Microsoft Intellipoint 1.0A. Best gaming mouse ever. If you DON'T want gaming, I suggest anything with added keys, really. You won't want another thing, believe me.

Next, not sure if your Logitech G500 is symmetrical or not. I need symmetrical cause I am (very) left handed.
It's not, but they sell left handed versions of many of their mice. I'd be surprised if you couldn't find a lefty version of the new G500S, for example.

That said, the G500S is probably overkill for you, I'm not actually recommending it to you. I'm just saying that added keys are a boon for productivity.

I'm with you in all that. We are all different, and myself, in my differentness, find that my G500 is the single best thing that happened to me in the computer world. It's just so much control, and so easy, it's great. Mice, as with keyboards, are pretty much sacred. Or should be.

Interesting. I never ever even considered beyond three buttons!

Interesting. But what I determined to get used to from the Get, was symmetrical mice, not even those made specially for we Southpaws.

Again, I will now open myself to considering added buttons! Until I get if those might add important options for me or not.

I like the above very much! I think, cause I am also picky and so, I relate. Most of all, I LUV you found yr SOULMATE MOUSE and you celebrate its reality every minute!

Addenda:
Fascinating topic in all this: the “brush” versus the human using the brush. Be it hardware or software.

First, I have no need for Photoshop, I find it obliterating anyhow…. forget I would rather eat worms than pay $800 for software of any kind. (Bite me, Adobe.)

But, early on, I had uber fun making custom wallpapers from images in my head (I do grow orchids), using ONLY MS Paint, and a three button mouse! If you are a good, coordinated, steady mouser, and a little creative, no need for anything beyond MS Paint and a three button mouse!

I have no doubt at all, the reality of yr Logitech gaming mouse in every element could not be more perfect for you, and I luv that, I can feel the pure joy! But in the making of these wallpapers, I learned, at least for me, it’s more who is using the app and the mouse, than the software or the mouse itself.

But, remember, I am not a gamer. Being gamer changes everything.

I will upload two examples….again, three button mouse and only MS Paint!!!!

O! Just went to Newegg....and discovered this new Sunbeam mouse! Maybe this is the real replacement Sunbeam mouse for my Sunbeam Fireline mice!

Yes, still only 3 buttons. Higher dpis in potential than mine, and adjustable....just more to get messed up, maybe.

I am attracted.....not in love, but I think I might get one anyhow.

Nevha mind; I just fell out of luv. My Fireline mice do not have visible buttons. That is something I love.....the top part of the cover comprises two pieces separated by the LED strip. No visible buttons. This new cute, but not adorable mouse, many reviewers say, the buttons are too long and they are not engineered well.

Most of my Firelines have lasted for YEARS....and those I gave them to are still using theirs! I checked.

Some flirtations are brief.

Dodged a bullet there, mate!

Wow. Here's the thing: bet a dollar YOU are the only other human on the planet who gets that. Most people would be yawning, and being like OMG get ovah it, who cares???? esp given it's a MOUSE, forget, it's a CHEAP MOUSE.

But YOU GET, for me, it's a BIG DEAL.() Cause it would be, for you as well.

I need things a certain way. I need my custom icons, my left handed cursors, the exact shade of green in Aero, my thermals at idle below a given level.....and those, just for openers.

Thank U for understanding this!

Adorable and hilarious! Such an earnest little girl. THANK YOU.

I just put some good Italian cheese and whole wheat bread in the drawer in which I put my dying mouse.

I can only hope the still OK mice there don eat those.:'(

So insensitive I was re the afterlife! But keep in mind, the mouse is just sick, stuck in flicker mode.....not actually dead....of even suffering as long as it is at distance from any USB port.

Just made a pic of my remaining healthy BLUE Fireline mouse. Have a red one somewhere, but I can't find it....makes me crazy I can't find it.

I only wish I could get more, now more than ever. I will never love another mouse as I do these mice.

FEIGN INTEREST.:whiste:

Now I took another one....with sick mouse in foreground right. But, as I expected, you can't see the blinking/flickering sickness. Not sure how I could capture it short of making a video....but I have no uTube account, so, not sure where I could upload it.
