Is mozarella like the vodka of cheese?

In a weird way I could come to the same conclusion. They both take on the properties that they are mixed with.
If mozzarella is the vodka and cheddar like whiskey. Then blue cheese must be the scotch.

BTW- mozzarella is easy to make

yup, tastes at least as good as store bought. i think i got 1 lb out of a gallon of whole milk + some ricotta afterwards. no aging, no special processing, no molds/bacteria.

There is a difference between good mozzarella and the poor, rubbery stuff- probably like rubbing alcohol vodka and smooth stuff.

BTW- mozzarella is easy to make


we sometimes make farmer's cheese--but that is even simpler: pour gallon milk into pot, add a few teaspoons of buttermilk, let sit for days. strain, get farmer's cheese.

Yeah, but a pound of mozzarella is cheaper than a gallon of milk, so...

its anywhere from ~$1.89-~$2.50/gal here, whole mozzarella is $3.50+/lb (cheapest walmart)


but it does take a load of time/kitchen space though... kinda explains why i haven't made it in a while

Really? Hard to find milk under $3.00 a gallon here, but I can regularly find Galbani or Polly-O mozz on sale for .99-1.99 a pound

Try ass-chugging it. I hear that is how you really get messed up on it.

Really? Hard to find milk under $3.00 a gallon here, but I can regularly find Galbani or Polly-O mozz on sale for .99-1.99 a pound

Milk is only $1.49 here. Cheese on the other hand is pretty darn expensive. Not that oil cheese of course but the good stuff.

Had a mozzarella stick for lunch today. They're really good, for how simple and plain they are. I do prefer the gouda sticks aldi sometimes gets though.

oddly enough a client brought me a bottle of grey goose yesterday and I do have some fresh mozzarella from the local italian market un the fridge.

There are many kinds of fake mozzarella on the market.

If you want a stronger taste you have to get buffalo mozzarella.
