Is my 2600+ locked

I just recently got a hold of a Barton 2600+. I heard of barton's being locked within the last few years or so.

But my processor says 1999 on it and my A7n8x can't change the mult. Any suggestions?

There wasn't such thing as a Barton in 1999. That's probably when they copyrighted "Athlon".
Yeah it's probably locked. I bought a 2500+ a year ago that wasn't , but anything in about the last 6 months probably is.
If you want to overclock just do the FSB thing....

It defaults to 11.5 and 166. That sounds like a barton. But I agree 1999 does seem a little out there.

It IS a Barton, but he's saying the 1999 isn't the year the processor was made, it's the year AMD copyrighted 'Athlon'.

You're going to see a code similar to this one on your chip (this was my old 2500):

AXDA 2600 DXV4D
PQZEA 0332 MPMW

The 4 bolded numbers indicate this chip was produced in Week 32 of 2003. If you've got a non-mobile Barton that was produced after around Week 39 of last year, then it's going to be locked.
