Is my clutch slipping/dying?

I don't have much experiences with manual cars. But my 90 Supra turbo, eversince i upgraded to a bigger turbo.

When i romped on the gas pedal, the RPM flys way up real fast but i'm not going anywhere. It does it in 1st - 5th gear. Before the turbo upgrade, the car pulls harder & faster.

When I get out of the car, i smell burnt rubbers like crazy.

Is this a symptoms of my clutch slipping/dying? Does this means that i need a stronger clutch because my stock couldn't handle the extra power?

You upgraded a turbo and don't know what a slipping clutch feels like? God damn.

This reminds me of that clip of a guy in a Camaro who THINKS he's doing a burnout but it's just that it's his clutch smoking, not the tires. LOL

Since you have more power available you should research ceramic clutches and other high performance ones.

Read an article in an old hotrod magazine about how ford almost put a naturally aspirated V10 in the forg GT but ended up going with the blown 5.4.

Well they put the prototype into a cobra and when the guys from hotrod magazine test drove it at the track they got 2 runs in when they blew the clutch. All the engineers yelled out that's #8. Turns out nothing they had in inventory even for they racing division had one capable of handling all that power and torque.

That is a great video.

For the OP, consider a clutch masters, maybe a stage 2. That should handle you for a while. I went with a stage 1 myself since I have a stock drivetrain.

The thing is...i got an extra set of brand new oem clutch set from Toyota. I got it when i got the car but never got a chance to put it in. Should i even waste my time putting it in?

Would the extra horsepower from the turbo ruin it just like my current one?

It's free so it's worthwhile. If you drive correctly and don't dog it to death(if you do then you'll have other things to worry about as well) then it should be fine for quite a few more miles.

Yep, get something better. You'll appreciate the feel. Beware of higher pedal effort though.
