Is my graphic card dying?

lately i've been playing with my old computer (P4 2.4 Ghz, 1 gb ram, Ati 9550)
and i noticed that all of my games don't run like it used to be, much slower. And the best thing is IF i play ANY game for more than 30 mins, it'll crash.

my first thought is: the graphic card doesn't work properly anymore

but, is it all or there's another problem?

You need to give more details. Are you playing the same games, or you mean new games are giving you troubles? Are you using the same drivers for your video card, and did you try to monitor temperatures on it during gaming?

the same old games, Warcraft 3, GTA San Andreas Counter Strike 1.6
it usually runs quite fast, but now, the GTA won't run as smooth as it does in the past.
it even doesn't go above 30!

I run win xp and yes, i use the old driver since i can't find the new ones that support mine.

i don't have any program to monitor gpu temp.

GPUs that need the extra molex connectors cause power supplies to wear out.
That's why you hear talk these days about the dedicated 12v rail.
And that's why I have an extra PS on the shelf. Try a different Molex from your PS to the GPU. I've done that and it worked for a while. But eventually, your PS will die.

You can either swap the video card or the PSU to isolate your problem, but before you do it I would recommend doing a standard "tuneup" check of your system:

• In-depth scan your PC for virus/spyware
• Defrag your hard-disk
• Are you running your games at a higher-resolution than before?

To my knowledge, I don't think ati 9550 can run cs1.6 much higher than 30fps at med-high settings ?? maybe i m wrong?

Maybe it's like what the oracle says "everything that has a beginning has an end."

I remember the 9550..... It was basically a slightly faster 8500 right?

I would do a clean reload of Windows, etc first.

I think at that resolution that card should play those games fine.
