Is my hard disk a bottleneck ?

Hello,

My current system is an A8N-SLI mobo, with 1gb corsair ram, 7800gtx and 3500+ cpu.

However my hard disk is still an IDE Seagate ATA100 7200rpm 8mb cache.

Now I was going to upgrade my hard disk to a Seagate SATA 2 16mb cache 7200.10 series ... would that make noticable difference ? Especially in gaming ?

I don't wish to be disappointed after spending the money, because after all my IDE hard disk is still good .

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't think it would make any noticable difference.

I think the load times would be faster, but overall performance would be the same.

it shouldn't make a difference, just get some ram and youll be straight for a while.

smartazz is right. Loading times would improve, but not much else. If you really want to get a hard drive, use the one you have now for a backup. Oh and it's also not worth it to get any more ram for that system since that's the last system you'll be using that ram on. You'd want to get DDR2 but you can only get DDR1. Better idea to save up and upgrade the whole deal
