This is obviously the right answer. Probably nothing will come of reporting it, but I'd do it anyway. Wrong is wrong.
And, if you don't, tell him you did. "Sweet! You're not going to believe what I just did! Verizon started a program where if you report people committing fraud, you're eligible to win a new iPhone! I just won! The rep wasn't supposed to tell me, but apparently, since you committed felony insurance fraud, you're going to be deported in the very near future."

I love you do-gooders that would "report him"

You have nothing better to do with your lives than report a guy who is committing "fraud" against Verizon. Do you work for them? Do you have stock in Verizon? What business is it of yours?

If you stand by and watch while he defrauds them, you are probably becoming complicit in the crime. Report him to save your soul. And to see what happens to him, of course.

Hey AMDZen, if I defrauded you, and told everyone, wouldn't you want to get your rights? You've got to eradicate the fraudster mentality, by reporting them, and getting them to pay up.

You think ratting him out will affect anything?
Verizon created the insurance program with fraud losses built into the calculation.

You will have no impact on anything and will jeopardize retribution from your friend.

You might as well call your local police department on speeders.

Some insurance companies and/or states offer rewards for people reporting fraud.

Maybe you could get a new iPhone

And your labmate is an idiot, especially for bragging about it.

Defrauding me as a person is completely different than fraud against a multi-million dollar corporation like Verizon who bends over people on a daily basis without a second thought.

If you don't at least try and take advantage of insurance at some point in your life to try and better your own, there is something wrong with you IMO.

This. And there are idiots out there who probably do that

When they get billions in subsidies from the gov't for expanding services, and then take that money as profit, and then never build out those services. Isn't that fraud against the taxpayer too?

And save whoever they'll run in to, because they can't respect the speed limit!

As for Verizon being an evil corporation: They still have clients that are impacted by this fraud, and employees impacted by this fraud.

The law exists so that we can all be safe. If we don't respect it, then we shouldn't expect others to stick to it. If you see someone not respecting it, put yourself in the victim's role, and see if you're still fine with it.

I'm not condoning this behavior but Verzion, like any other major company, has already calculated such losses from fraud in the pricing of their insurance plan. There really is not appreciable impact.
