hey, well at my other apartment complex i use to live at i would only have to unplug the power to my router like once every 2 months or so, and then the router would work fine again, and the internet would work on my computer. but sins i have moved to this new place i have to unplug and plug the power back in like three times a day to keep the internet working. so is my router busted or what? my roomates are using a router as well and have no problems. iv tride hitting the reset button on the back of it as well. dose this have to be done while the power is plugged in or dose it not matter? and do you have to hold it down for a sertant amount of time? and is the router just busted? ok thianks..

You mention your roomates are using a router and not having problems, are you both using the same internet connection? If so this could be an issue. As for resetting the router this must be performed with the router plugged in, depending on the brand of router you have the reset process can be slightly different. For a linksys I think you just hold the reset button down until the power light starts blinking. If you can, provide more details on your network setup.

I never bother to unplug my Linksys router and stay that way...I don't know why it is necessary to unplug to get it working 3 times a day.

ya its only been a problem when i moved into my new place. well my roomates are using a wireless linksys router. i think it could be an old B router. i am using a B router as well. but i gues ill try reseting it with the power cord plugged in and see what happens thanks. oh also my router was having these problems before my roomates ever had a router. so i dont think theres is interfeering at all with mine.

well ill hope that reseting it will do the trick. thanks..

Is this wireless? Anywho, make sure the router's IP addresses aren't the same. Like they are all trying to take 192.168.0.1 or whatever. Also, I'd suggest replacing those extra routers with a switch. But that may be more of the easy fix. And then on a side note, Linksys routers just seem to be that way. And after a week or two they get smart and stop causing problems

I use Linksys BEFW11S4 Wireless-B router and you do not need to unplug unless the router stopped working.

well i reset the router and it did reset this time. though it didnt fix my problem. my roomates router dosent have the wireless enabled. and they seem to have no problems ever having to disconnect the power and plugging it back in like i do. so im not really sure whats up with it. so if we both had the same ip wouldnt it mess up both routers at some point? but like i said i only do it like every 8 hours, unplug the power and plug it back in and it works. its really weard..
