Is my Linksys WRT54G Router Dead?

Normally, I can surf fine (600+ KBps DL, 38+ KBps UL) but sometimes the Internet connection slows to a crawl. So I type the IP address of my router into a browser (e.g. 192.168.1.1) and login.

Here's my question.

Sometimes it takes 5-30 seconds just to load a single page in my router's config settings screens. Is this a problem with my router? It seems like regardless of my Internet connection, my connection to my router should be super fast--or is that an unfair assumption?

If not, what are some things I can check please?

(I'm using Comcast cable here in Atlanta, GA. I have the cable coming into the house, going through a 3-way splitter and then into my old Motorola Surfboard cable modem. From there a CAT5 goes to the Linksys WRT54G router and my PC is connected directly to the router with an 8-foot CAT5 cable. I'm using the latest firmware from Linksys. This PC is assigned an IP address via DHCP. I've already tried disabling the wireless connection and for my wireless security I'm using a MAC-ID filter to include only 3 PCs. This problem occurs on all PCs connected to this router including 2 desktops on the LAN and 1 laptop via wireless. I'm not using any filesharing software or uploading/downloading anything. Both PCs are clear of viruses per Kaspersky 6.0.)

If you have wireless enabled make sure noone is leaching your internet.

Do you think it's an issue with the router or something on one of the PCs plugged into the router?

disconnect your router from it power source, sometimes it needs a good ol hard reboot
