Is my mobo dead?

Guys, yesterday I installed my shiny new 8800GT on my P5WDH

When I booted into Vista x64, the X-FI wouldn't show. I had moved it to a new slot so I uninstalled the drivers and reboot. Tried to reinstall the drivers but windows would not show the card despite the card obviously being on (the X-FI Fatality logo is bright red).

The very last thing I did was: reseat the bios battery since I was having the aforementioned X-FI issue (doesn't show in windows).

When I tried to boot up my PC, It turned on but I got just a black screen. I noticed that there was no HDD activity (at least that would indicate that windows would begin booting)
The bios messages would not show.

I tried:
-2 other video cards 1 PCI and the other PCIE and neither gave me an image on my LCD.

-disconnect both my optical drives

-removed the x-fi

-unplugged all usb hubs; devices other than mouse and Keyboard

-1 ram module only

-unplugged all but CPU fan

-made sure everything else was correctly connected

-made sure vid cards were powered

-drank a diet coke

Please excuse the long post but I figure that if someone would be nice enough to want to help me, they need all the info they can get.

Thanks in advance.

Drain all of the power out and let it sit for a few hours... reset CMOS and fire it up.... should work....

I have the same board .. it can be picky...

But they are the best, most stable and feature filled MOBO I've seen..

Remove everything from your mobo except your vid card. Even pull you cpu and ram out. If it doesn't post then you'll know it's the mobo. Make sure you ATX and 20/24 pin power supplies are plugged in snuggly.

Am I missing something, you wont get a post without ram and cpu, you have to have them!

As fox stated this board is picky, if you make it mad it wont work. Best to leave it sit with no power or cmos battery for a while.

Kinda like punishing a pouting child!!!

OMG HAHAHAHA that's hilarious
Nice one, man

Ok, I'll leave it be for the time being but feel free to recommend me other things just in case this doesn't solve my problem.

Test your CMOS battery voltage with DMM. Reinstall battery.

Move the BIOS reset jumper to clear, drink diet coke, put back.

Remove everything except CPU.

Install 1 stick memory in proper slot per manual (for a 1 stick setup)

Install your 6200 video card.

Re-seat all power connections, IDE/SATA cables.

Power up.

Boot?

Does it make any beep noise?

If not booting...then:

Test one of the Molex connectors for power using a DMM. 5V [Red to Black] & 12V [Yellow to Black] What are the readings?

Turn off and take out video card. Turn back on... Does it beep?

Turn off, reinstall video card, remove memory. Turn back on...Beep?

Turn off...try a different stick of memory installed, turn back on...working yet?

Report back at this point.

Also remove power from the PSU for a few minutes. If you get a post, immediately enter bios and select "optimized or default" settings, then save and reboot.

I have an x-fi too. Pain in the bum when it comes time to update board bios, and move around cards. Try taking the sound card out, restart, and then shutdown, replace, and restart. Try it with and without the software. If that doesn't work- just try a bunch of stuff- I always end up getting it to work through combinations of uninstalling the device through the device manager, and also physically.

Thanks everyone for your help.

EVERYTHING is working perfectly!
I just played a good hour of Crysis DX10. I don't know what people are complaining about -- the game runs great! Looks amazin. Just turn off motionblur and leave some settings at medium and high.

What I did was unplug all power sources and take out the cmos battery for 30 mins.
Then I booted with 1 ram stick and the 8800GT only. I left the bios options alone and that seemed to have helped.

Woohoo!
