Is my monitor dying?

Every once in a while, the screen will stretch horizontally, and it's starting to annoy me. No, i haven't added any new hardware or placed any magnets near the screen. The monitor has been in this position for the longest time, and nothing was wrong before. This monitor is 6 years old, could that be it? It's dying of age?

Its possible, I would try seeing if degaussing will help it out, it might just be a temp fix, though.

Nope, i've tried that. The only thing that works is turning the monitor off/on.

Well, if turning your monitor off/on fixes it, that rules out any PC problem. Monitors that start losing the ability to maintain a screen size is a classic sympton of an impending tube failure.
