Hello all

I am just trying to build up a system to change my old one and I was wondering about the posibilities of keeping the power supply.
I currently have a http://www.akasa.com.tw/update...eam&model=AK-P460FG-BL]AKASA PaxPower 460W of which I am very pleased: very quiet and reliable.
Also, i am a little short of founds for a new power supply.
The system I want to build is:
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P
CPU: AMD - Phenom II X3 Triple Core 720 Black Edition
RAM: Corsair DOMINATOR DHX DDR3, 2x2GB, 1600MHz
Video: HIS HD 4870 IceQ 4+ Turbo 1GB (256bit) GDDR5 PCIe
2 SATA2 HDD's @7200 rpm
DVD-rw
I am not planning to OC.

This http://www.thermaltake.outervision.com/]Power supply calculator pointed exactly a 460W recommended PSU wattage at 100% load.

This is a little too close to the limit.
Do you think my PSU will handle the load or should I reallocate the budget?

Thanks!

I think your PSU might be a bit too under powered/over rated. By your link you have 210w on the 3.3v and 5v rails, which only leaves about 225w for the combined 12v rails. This would equate to about 18-20A for the 12v rail. If your PSU is over 2 yrs. old, you can expect about a 20% reduction in total output, due to ~10%/yr for capacitor aging. I would personally get a new PSU and then you don't have to worry about your system having issues or possibly losing parts due to a marginal PSU. The Corsair 550vx/650tx or even Antec 500w Earthwatts will serve you well with your system.

Edit: The PSU that theAnimal has linked will work fine too. Just need to have 2 x 6 PCI-e power connectors and at least a quality >400w PSU.

So, thinking about it I realized that it is best to cut down in some parts to save money for a new PSU.

I was thiking of downgrade to AMD Phenom II x2 550, and maybe only 2 Gigs of RAM for now.
I will try and raise the extra money, because this compromise kills me.

I was thinking of buying a Coolermaster Silent Pro M600 .
It is modular and it has 85% efficency. It is the best bargain i can find,
or maybe go for the Corsair HX520 W that is a little more expensive.

What do you think?

P.S. I could not find G.Skill RAM in my country.

The Coolermaster is a good PSU.

Any brand name RAM is fine, just don't go for overpriced kits since you won't notice any performance difference.

What is your budget for this build? I'd probably recommend an Antec/Corsair/Seasonic/PC&C PSU over a Coolermaster, even though the one you linked looked okay.
