Is my video card broken?

my computer's been having this problem for a while now; sometimes it would just turn into a white screen, or black with green lines gradually filling up the screen when i am trying to watch a divx movie. recently, it's doing this frequently even though when i dont even touch divx files. when i press restart, it will produce a loud beep sound, and nothing shows up on the monitor though the computer reboots just fine. i'd need a cold boot after that to have the it display again.
does this sound like my video card's broken?

pc2100 256mb
trident image 975 <-- yup, it's this antique
on-board sound
30.8 wester digital @ 5400RPM

Sounds like it to me. Why don't you get a Radeon 8500 128 meg card ? They are cheap (~$100) and work great !

before buying one try a friends video card, and your video card in a friends system
if it happens in his system, and his video card works fine in yours, id say video card is about to die

i originally used this card in my old sytem: 300mhz k6-2, and it had the same problem every once in a while. i've been using this card for over 3 years now, i guess it's about time. thanks for the help.
