Is my Voodoo3 2000 AGP dragging down my systems performance?

I put together a T-bird 850 on a Gigabyte motherboard w/512mb pc 133 Crucial RAM. I carried over the old Voodoo3 2000 AGP from my old PII-400 system. The current setup seems to play most newer games fine. I tried 3DMarks 2001 and got an 1805 score which is pretty low compared to other peoples systems. I've been looking for an excuse to pick up the Leadtek Geforce2 32mb pro from Newegg, do you guys think it would make a big difference? I'm sure games will be prettier with faster fps rates, but will the Geforce2 make my system run a little faster in day to day tasks like web browsing, etc? Thanks for any opinions!

I dont' know about your board specifically but I made the switch from a VooDoo3 to a GeForce2 and noticed a difference in regular application use.

I'd say go for the GeForce2 card.

Hmm, I'm thinking I should just get the Geforce2 and get it over with Anyways, my Voodoo3 is getting old, (almost 2 1/2 years old now) and it's been overclocked from 143mhz@166mhz for about a year now, so it is probably reaching the end of it's usefullness.

games would be the only thing that make you notice the performance difference. the v3 prolly has slightly better 2d display, so you might be taking a little downgrade in that arena.

You bet it is.

Voodoo3 were designed to run optimially with a P2-450, P3-500 or a similar processor. Your machine is much faster than that. Effectively, your CPU can feed more data than the videocard can handle. If you buy an even faster CPU, you will not notice any improvement in 3d performance.

Thanks for the advice, I made up my mind to go ahead and buy the GeForce2, I'm not even going to check with the woman first!
